Congrats CFTW!

Re: Sleep. I probably averaged <5 hours a night from age 15-25 and performed fine in most mental activities (getting a degree, being an engineer, playing poker, etc). A couple years ago I started averaging more like 7-8, and I feel far less capable now when I am working on less sleep. Obv I can party, play video games, hang out, etc, but when it comes to poker, I just don't feel as sharp/focused when I haven't slept enough. Either sleep debt is a real thing (and I have a TON of catching up to do), or I am just getting old. Either way, I still LOVE my Tempurpedic bed.

If I have < 7-8 hrs life goes badly, or I just sit around monging out too tired to do anything

fwiw sleep 'debt' is a myth.

i went through a 6 month period near the end of highschool where i slept maybe 12-15hrs a week on average. nowadays i'm on around 7-8 a night and function fine, though i'm usually okay if i get less too (like if i set my alarm to get up for sunday donkaments or w/e)

I find myself setting my alarm almost every day in order to get no more than 7-8 hours sleep. I consider it kinda useless and very counterproductive to sleep till late afternoon. Makes me feel like a failing degen.
