you could easily lose 100s of buyins and be a winning player

geez

When you say 100s what like even 200 300? If so, what kind of Bankroll are you guys using than for High Stakes? or are you just moving up and down instead of being over-rolled.

I'm using a 100 BI rule atm for PLO50, and wasn't sure what BI rule to use for PLO100 200 etc.

I never used proper BRM and have donated money ever since i started playing poker, so finally started using proper BRM 100BI just now, but don't know my std deviation and so on to use a variance calculator and calculate it instead of asking this noob question.

Maybe if you can't use your personal data you could use someone else's or fabricate the data and see what the potential looks like.

if ur a winning player and game select a bit then you need around 150bi to not go broke

Depends on alot of things. Are you going to stop playing if you and villain end up 300+bb deep?? Obv this would cut into win rate if you have an edge but would help alot for variance. Are you game selecting or just sitting whoever?? At plo50 if you have a solid edge (and rake isn't too terrible) I cannot see 100bi being needed. Based on posts about busting your roll them deleting your database I am not overly convinced that being a solid winner is a certainty.
I haven't seen > 30bi swing in a still marginal sample size. Prior to getting a hand converter (bovada problems) I don't recall any giganic swings but the majority of the players im against make huge mistakes that aren't typical PLO thin edges where that variance kicks in.
All a function of winrate / st dev.
