I start the hand with about 2k and Villain probably covers. 2-5 game and Villain Mississippi straddles BTN to 15. I am in MP one of the blinds calls and I raise to 55 with

QT98

BTN and limper call

Villain plays too many hands preflop but seems to play pretty well or at least tough postflop, can value bet thin and will make dry NFD bluffs and put random pressure on if he thinks it will work

I am a nit in PLO and he's probably putting me on a big pair pre and probably expects me to bet it postflop if it has a chance of still being good

Flop Tc 7c 5h

Limper checks. What's the best play from here?

Blind has about 900. Sorta loose pre. Gets kinda stationy with strong non nut made hands

Seems like a standard c/c and evaluate turn.

Why are you betting? What are you trying to accomplish?

Bet folding seems like a disaster, but I have to be losing $$$ getting it in even against a hood player type. I could save money if both of the others want to get $$ in, but I suppose I could get shut out of my equity if BTN just takes a stab w/ air and SB c/r

I think many turns could be difficult to play and I'm not even sure how to extract when I get there, if I should be calling 3 streets if I hit Q,J,6 but a club comes out. I guess I can check fold any card in the middle that doesnt give me a straight. I haven't been in this specific situation too often. Gotta start playing online a little to work out some of these marginal spots.

That's exactly why I fold this hand in a deep live game all day and feel great about it. It just plays awful deep.

I disagree, care to elaborate?

I would c/c this flop as a standard.

OK, so maybe not a fold. But definitely not a raise.

That said, I play live ring deep PLO pretty nitty pre-flop and it works very well. You simply don't want to get the money in a deep live game with a top gapped rundown, unless it specifically comes 7-6-x.

I know it's Hwang 101, but he's right.

I'm raising this pre and I'm check/calling flop. I'd probably check/call even if I had a 13 out nut wrap and bdfd if there is already a fd on flop as we get shut out by board pair or flush pretty often on turn.

This will work 2-fold for you as he will continue to think you have overpair.

Edit - given your image and the fact he's going to put you on the wrong hand pretty often, I'd check turn no matter what comes - I would definitely rep your hand if you are a nit

With the straddle at 15, effective stacks of 2000 are not that deep

The straddles not mandatory, and in live poker the players generally don't get in 2k 2-5-15 as light as they would get in 667 in a 2-5. Raised straddled pots play more like three bet pots.

The guy can bluff but I think he's a little short bankrolled(bought in for 300 at the 2/5 holdem the other night) I think I can generally call one street if I improve and flush comes in. c/r sounds good to me if I hit the nuts. I feel like I should just donk a Q cause its not a super scare card and I don't know if he'd fire vs. taking a free card. But maybe against a wider range I don't have as much to fear and AA** KK** are supposed to fold turn unimproved.

This is all fine. But I still wouldn't bloat the pot pre with this hand.
