Bankroll requirements for loose and wild LIVE 1/2/5 and 5/5/10 PLO? Bankroll requirements for loose and wild LIVE 1/2/5 and 5/5/10 PLO?

What kind of bankroll is required for 1/2 PLO with a $5 bring in and 5/5 PLO with a $10 rock?

Assuming I've set aside 1 year of living expense.

I play in very loose aggressive fishy home games. Pots at the 1/2 are often $1500+ and at the 5/5 they're often $5000+

I would buy in $500 at the 1/2 and $1000 at the 5/5, and a single buy in can go really fast given the high frequency of all in hands. Pots are often raised 4x BB preflop and 4-5 way action, and players don't fold draws.

For live 5/10NL where I bought in $2000, I had a $100k bankroll (50 buy ins)

Curious what should it be for PLO. I would imagine I would need a bigger bankroll for 5/5/10 PLO than 5/10NL. Unless 100 buyins of $1000 (100k) will suffice.

100k is fine, and you can always move down if you lose 50k. good money can be made at 1/2/5 anyway.

Since you have segregated living expenses you could start taking shots at the 5/10 with about 30k.

Depends more on your win rate then anything. Usually 50k is considered minimum for 5/5/10 plo. 100k for 5/10nlhe seems really high... what was your biggest downswing like 20k?

Play around with some numbers. You’ll see although variance does have a large impact winrate has a much larger impact on risk of ruin

These questions are always so pointless without providing so many variables.
What risk of ruin are you capable of handling?
Are you a winning player? If so, what your win rate and SD over a 6 month sample size?

What do you do with a SD if you have a two stacks BR for the higher limit?

If the games are good and crazy enough and you avoid high variance spots, even where you are a slight fav or getting good enough odds, i think you can get away with a smaller roll than standard nlhe requirements. As you grow the roll you can open up your game and gamble a little more to improve your image if you so desire.

You can afford a small bankroll requirement if you play a very tight solid low variance strategy if the game is full of gambling rec players. Strategy consisted of waiting to pick up very strong nutted hands and making very easy GII or fold flop decisions. You don't have to worry too much about being exploited either since there isn't much balancing to do in 6+ way pots, which is undoubtedly most of them. My biggest upswing in terms of buyins in my career came from a similar style 5/10 mixed HA home game, and at the start I only had roughly 20BIs behind me. Good times.

I usually bring 1000-1500 BBs to these kinds of games and buy in for the table max up to 150bb.

To be honest, that's more dictated by my pain tolerance. It's enough most of the time but I'd say about 20% of the time I end up cutting a weekend short.

What ends up happening a lot is I lose 1 or 2 buyins (you get chipped down a lot and have to top off when there are so many multi way pots) before I get a 3-4 buy-in stack in front of me. Then at some point a big stack clash that takes me up to 5-8 buyins. If I lose this clash, I am already down by 2-3 buy-ins and it's not that unusual to lose 3-4 big flips/mutiways over one night, a few hours sometimes.

At that point I call it a weekend and leave.
