Nice to see you recommend The Power Of Now. That book changed my life back then.
I also did a 10 day meditation course in Thailand and would encourage everyone to give this stuff a try.

Great post, one thing I noticed that I don't like: Your mantras are not good.
“I’m never going to make things worse” and “I’m going to break the pattern of chasing losses” emphasize on negative things which will stick to your mind (making things worse and chasing losses). also words like 'never' and 'break' have a negative stigma attached to them. Furthermore, words like 'never' and 'not' are hard to store for your brain and usually get lost, so your mantra “I’m never going to make things worse” will be stored in your subconscious as “I’m going to make things worse."
Rather use positive mantras, in this case “I’m never going to make things worse” becomes "I will make things better" and “I’m going to break the pattern of chasing losses” becomes "I quit when it is the correct time do so" (or something similiar, you get the point).

The Mental Game of Poker? By Jared Tendler and Barry Carter? I herd it is better than or very similar to The elements of poker. by tommy angelo.

Very nice, first time I've read it.

Your non-showdown winnings are ridiculous!

So simple in theory, and yet so complex in reality!

If you can do all these things, on a regular basis, you will be a winner at this game!

Great read!
IMO, the OP is cliffs for managing your poker career - so asking for cliffs seems kind of meaningless.

Buy tiltbreaker. It's a program where you can program stoplosses and you will be unable to open any tables after you reach it for a pre-determined amount of time (that you decide on) and it will close your current tables once the BB reaches you. Also you can set like a maximum stake you can play until a certain date and it will not let you open any higher stakes tables. Few other nice features on it, and if you tilt semi-often and spew or move up stakes when you do, its definitely worth having.

almost amateur level self help work. If wasnt poker related Jared would a never was- there is so much better teachings on mindfulness etc.
Mostly all he said was anyone with common sense would do nothing more. Way too much praise for this post.

The mindfulness stuff was intentionally kept to a basic level and was mostly put in to introduce people who didn't know what it was all about and possibly entice them to look into the work of people who are much more of an authority on the subject than me. Maybe a lot of what's in this post is common sense, but I know if I had read this post when I was first starting out and taken all the advice to heart, I would have been a hell of a lot more successful and suffered a lot less emotional pain in my poker exploits. Either way, not sure why you had to go out of your way to bump the post when it's been inactive for 2 months just to **** on it, but w/e, gl and sorry you felt your time was wasted.

I literally have no idea why you would say this. It wasn't supposed to be black belt 10th dan style zen, simply a good solid post on the fundamentals of how to keep your head whilst playing poker.

The fact there are a load of people praising it should say all there is to say. And the fact i've seen it linked in many many posts says even more.

For about the fifteenth time.... nicely done Crashwhips.
