Hero: BTN : 20y/o WG, TAG, havnt been playing any hands for the last hour orso. 1k$
Villain: HJ: YWG, LAG, recently joined the table and has been running hot 2500$. Seems capable, but definitaly overvalues weak draws. Havent seen him pull of a big river bluff so far.

OTTH
UTG+1 makes it 20$, HJ and CO call. I look down at KJ109 on the BTN and call. SB and BB fold.

Flop: [85$]: QA8
Checks to me I bet 50$ (should have just bet pot). HJ calls rest folds
Turn [185$]: 7 (QA8) Villain checks, I bet 150$ V calls.
River [485$]: 9 (7QA8). Villain bets 300$ into me.

What do I do in these kinds of spots? I mostly just fold in these spots and only call with flushes. Do you think villains will be likely to bluff when the BDF gets there and relise I overfold in this spot and abuse it? Or do most villains at these types of games just have it when betting into you in these spots?

Tough to come up with a bluff for him to get to the river with, would have to be turning two pair into a bluff, something like kstsac8c

I would have potted flop, but that's just to get more money in there. Turn is fine. River, unfortunately, is a fold. He could have the naked Ad, but we are so easily beat otherwise. Unless I know he's capable of bluffing here (and get the feeling that he is), I fold.

I think this is more of a standard call, unless villain is underbluffing.

I think it is close, but probably a call. You could do something funky to help make your choice on close hands like this. If you have one of the flush making cards in your hand thereby making it less likely they have the flush, then call, otherwise fold.

I think its good to have a default randomized frequency of calls here against competent opponents. Not exactly sure what the percentage is here but I don't think flipping a coin here could be that much of a mistake.

I use blockers more to decide when to bluff-catch than when to bluff. Here, a missed heart draw is the most likely hand to bluff, so I would use number of hearts in my hand as part of my randomization. We block hearts, so this hand is worse for bluff-catching than if we had a straight with no hearts. Other hands in our range are better for calling in this spot.

I did end up calling, beacause I thought there was a small chance that the villain would have a 10J hand himself and hope from a hero call from worse. This probly isnt the case often but since it was such a close spot in my head I used this to make my decision. i called and he showed Jh3h6d5d... Ouch

Ouch is right. What was he doing pre-flop? Just gross. He hit a miracle card. Glad you didn't have AdXd.

His river bet size was very value-y. I would be more inclined to call if he had potted it.

i also wouldve called consider we have one diamond blocker and villian is overplayed low FD so defently he could have low H draw - and can use the board texture that has been changed drasticly for most hand who bet flop and turn

unlucky in my opinion
