5/5 live Mediocre Wrap on Board with Flush Draw

Hero BTN $1200
V1 SB $550
V2 MP $250

V1 is MAWG, businessman who plays in the game every night after work....usually decent but chases anything when stuck, which he is...

V2 is MAWG redneck, bad reg short stacker

Hero has Ah, Qh, Td, 8h

Pre Flop (6 handed table)

1 limper, V2 opens to $30, 1 caller, Hero calls on BTN, V1 in SB calls, BB folds, limper folds

130$ Pot, Flop is Jc9c5h

SB V1 leads for $100, V2 shoves for $220, 1 player folds, action back to Hero....??? (Pot has $350 in it now and V1 has $420 behind)

*****SPOILER*************

I shoved for V1s effective stack, he sigh called...results later

You have a non-nut straight draw on a 2flush board and are facing multi-way aggression.
You're at least behind if not crushed.

Pre is meh having 3 of a suit is worse for you pf than people realize. But it’s fine on the button in a game where people are gonna be making big mistakes everywhere and you have some nuttiness.
Time to gamble I guess?

since your 50 effective with the blinds behind, and you probs have little FE vs these recs i think this open is pretty marginal. your BTN CCing ranges shrink dramatically 50bb eff

on the flop your unblocking clubs and sets, and you are likely against other combo draws around the J9 which are blocking your outs. i think you should let the two recs blast away and live to fight another day

Folding pre is outrageous. Do you play 5% of hands preflop?

One player has a flush draw most of the time.. we're probably not in great shape. Folding on flop is fine for 2x pot

This forum blows my mind and not even sure why I'm posting.

On btn this would be criminal to fold pre.

flop is a fold. you have to worry they share cards with you. you may be drawing to a chop or be up against a dominating draw. No need to stack off here.

Re: 5/5 live Mediocre Wrap on Board with Flush Draw

Villain called and showed AJcK5d and won with two pair when board bricked out. Thanks for all the replies. Folding preflop on BTN six handed in this game is never going to happen from my perspective. I obviously am aware having three of a suit isn’t good by any means but folding would be very bad pre IMO. I should have folded post though

Agree with the thoughts on preflop.

Depends a little bit on the opener's range and blinds. In this case decision would be mostly on the blinds since opener sounds like he's button clicking.

Post flop seems like a decent place to fold.

Re: 5/5 live Mediocre Wrap on Board with Flush Draw

its an interesting decision pre, the way im looking at it is: 50 effective, this hand will probably be 4 way, position wont mean much bcz the spr will shrink instantly (which it did), and hero will end up in these kind of marginal MW spots. thats why im thinking its close- still monker vpips this on the BTN every time at 50bb even w/ 3 of a suit

This isn't a great hand. Preflop equities run together in PLO, so if it is a mistake to fold this hand, it's probably not a huge mistake. It'd make sense to fold it in early or middle position in an aggressive game. I wonder what a solver would say about this hand in the HJ with a limp, raise, and call in front of you.

Since you are against some relatively shallow stacks, you often have no problems getting it in with top two and this hand usually flops top two when it flops two pair. It's probably better at 50bb effective than 300bb effective.

It might make sense to 3bet iso against the short stacker if he has a wide enough opening range. I'd need to know more about the caller, though.

Re: 5/5 live Mediocre Wrap on Board with Flush Draw

i'm 3 betting or calling with this hand

i would need to see some high cards and hearts exposed pre to fold
like if i saw k1010 2 hearts exposed i would fold
otherwise wtf@folding pre

if you can't play this profitably on the button then you can't win at plo

Please no.

If you're so worried about it, just 3b/fold.

****ty spot as you flopped decent, but as you know by now, fold flop.

I'd consider 3b on the button preflop. think that's a better play than flatting and going 4-5 ways
