For context, I'm fairly new to a 5/5 PLO home game. I've played maybe 5-10 hours of PLO lifetime before this game. As a general strategy I'm playing fairly tight and straightforward to start. People are starting to notice that though.

The game itself is fairly loose and what feels like average level of aggression but i'm not sure. People are starting to think of me as tight / straightforward.

Hand 1
There's a $10 straddle, 3 limpers, SB calls, I call in the BB with Q 7 5 3, straddler checks.

Most players started the hand with around $500 effective.

Flop ($60): T 7 5
SB checks, I...?

Hand 2
Straddle again, 2 limpers, I limp in the CO with A 7 6 4, blinds calls straddle "accidentally" raises to $20 and everyone calls.

Flop ($120): 9 7 6
Checks around

Turn ($120): A
Checked to me, I bet $50, folded around to one of the limpers to checkraises pot, making it $220 more. After my $50 bet I have around $600 behind so calling his raise wouldn't quite pot commit but it's awkward. I went back and forth as to whether to post this hand because I know two pair is basically terrible but I really wanted to call / felt like there was a reasonable chance he was FOS here. He's a reg who's on the tighter side but can pull off a move if he thinks it's the right spot.

Just follow next rule:When you are re oop and have marginal hand like bottom 2pair and non nutfd, or 2pairs on straight board you will make more money by folding this.

Hand 1 - very standard check

Hand 2 - fold

Hand 1 is a check 6 ways. You're almost never taking this down with a bet, and if you get called you're at best only slightly ahead, and often just drawing to a non-nut flush. If you get two or more callers your made hand and draw may be bad.

Fold hand 2. I'd often just check again, but if you're leading make it bigger to charge draws.

In a live PLO game where hands are going 5- or 6-ways, you're basically playing to make the nuts or steal a few pots in position when you're drawing to the nuts. hands like two pair (other than flopped top two) go way down in value when this many people are in a pot.

Hand #2 I call that check/raise and then probably continue on most non-spade rivers

Hand 1:

I led for $50 because I am awesome at PLO and have an excellent understanding of hand values. Guy to my right called rather quickly, everyone else folded.

Turn ($160): 8:heart
I checked, villain bet $100, I called

River ($360) 2
I bet $200, villain thought for about a minute then folded.

I didn't really know what the best plan was when I hit my hand / wasn't in love with it. Which is a good sign I probably shouldn't have been drawing in the first place.

check 1 (fine to lead hu), fold 2 (don't bet either)

those are good examples why you shouldn't **** around with garbage oop, in 2nd hand he could be raising with A9/set+spades so you're in horrible shape most of the time even when he doesn't have a straight

Hand 2: I thought long and hard and folded. If he has the hand he's representing it's an easy fold, I did get the sense he was FOS but my sense isn't really honed for PLO and trying to make hero calls / thin value plays when new to a game probably isn't the way to make money.

In the first hand, once V calls flop you should probably just give up. 8 is a sneaky bad card because it completes a lot of gutters/wraps, and gives him two pair a lot if he's playing connected cards. You have no redraws other than bottom boat.

I have a Q high flush draw which isn't the nuts and I probably should have folded but that plus boat draw plus the chance he's misses and will give up on the river led me to a call. But I think I was really just chasing, so I agree it's a fold on the turn.

Then I make my Q high flush on the river and..
