As someone with a nitty image (one that I retain despite having show down occasional preflop moves), I find that raising less than pot does not make players become more willing to 3bet me. I maximize the probability of getting it all-in preflop by limping and hoping it gets 3bet before it gets back to me.

The solution that works for me is to be willing to limp-call on the button here and play well in multi-way pots where you have post-flop position and a disguised hand.

Seems like even the nittiest of nits ought to raise top 15% of hands on the button in this situation.

I evaluate based on opponent skill and stack depth to determine if I think I am putting myself in a reverse implied odds situation where the table will put me on aces and I actually have aces, even if my raising range includes non-AA hands. I actually work to cultivate a nit image, so I generally want them to think I have AAxx when I raise more often than I actually do. That means that I am at a potential disadvantage when I actually have the hand I am representing.

It's also super-annoying to some LAGs because they are either reckless and don't recognize I could have AA when I don't raise or recognize that fact and get frustrated that they have to be more cautious instead of gambling it up. They are too addicted to PLO to ever quit, so instead they sometimes tilt because I take them out of their comfort zone.
