Was discussing a hand from a friend of mine.

5/10 with $4 antes. Full table.

unknown player UTG (200bb) pots, to 50+ish
unknown player UTG+1 (100bb) repots. to close to 300.

Folded to friend who is OTB with Qs 9s Qc Kd and covers.

I think it's a fold because vs a 3b vs unknown, i think it's ok to assume they have AA until they show otherwise. Moreover, UTG gets to act after us and having them potentially repot us while 200bb deep is pretty gross. Even if they call, i'd guess they share a lot of cards we like to see OTF.

Friend disagrees and thinks it's a standard cold call.

Thoughts? Thanks

Well you can't repot from 50 to 300 without callers in between. I guess maybe there were two limpers, a raise to 65, and then a caller. Or a limper, a raise to 55, and then two callers.

Anyway I like a fold. JT98 is a more interesting question.

Call or fold are both fine, but more info would help. Who called in between?Stack sizes? What "vibe" does your friend get from the other players (gambly, tight, etc.)?

Fairly standard fold, it's not that strong of a hand, and the action isn't closed.

Also assuming we flat qq here we can do so with much better side cards

We don't like the k given the action and the 9 is a double gapper

Kqqj/kqqt are more legitimate, 64 is probably worth more than k9

I strongly disagree that it would be better to have QQ64 in this spot.

it's better to have 7784 in that spot (which is also a snapfold)

Interestingly enough QQ64 does out perform QQK9 against a range of only aces. I still prefer QQK9 in this situation however.

It’s a fold for many reasons... mostly bc against a 3bet and 4bet range KKQQ JJ really play poorly... when you flop J10 most likely two Aces are missing w maybe a third missing.. if they re potted w decent AA most likely a K or Q is also discounted.

Rather have J and 10 high run downs in this spot.. then when the guy pots behind and reopens you can happily get it in vs two opponents w AA.

the situation is equitable if UTG player closes action and pot/call on a Q-high board. at the very least it is situational.

Think you guy missed where he said $4 antes.
Utg pot should be to $71 (9*4 +5 + 3*10)(maybe 70 red chip game)
Repot to 264

What side cards do you like flatting with here? I probably fold every QQxx hand except AAQQ. I'm not enthusiastic about playing QQJJds or QQJTds here.

There are situations where I might cold call this hand but you're playing against UTG RFI & UTG+1 3b. These are the tightest positions and even in a more splashy game you can expect a high 4bet frequency from UTG which leaves you playing for stacks with a hand that does not want to play for stacks.
