Game is in edmonton alberta. It plays fairly big for 2/5 generally gets kicked up later in night. Game is pot limit pre with a cap on the 4th raise. Game is no limit after the flop.

Hero has standard image not too crazy but not tight by any means. Main villain is 60ish. Been playing lots of hands and betting a lot. Seems to be running really hot. Ran is 2nd $300 bullet up to about $1500. I don't think he gets out of line too often but I am new to the game so it's more of a generalized read.

To the hand

10 handed

Hero MP $2500
Villain SB $1500

Utg raises to 15 2 callers to hero who looks down at AA2J rainbow. Hero elects to call hoping for a 3 bet from the action players behind still to act. I felt I would bloat the pot with a hand that is unlikely to improve. The hand would likely go 4-5 to the flop even with a 3 bet. I had full intention of 4 betting it given the opportunity.

A few more call including SB and it goes to the flop 7-8 ways.

Flop comes 22K rainbow. Villian attempts to bet $135 but immediately gets called for a string bet. Only the $35 is bet. A few folds and hero calls the $35. All others fold

Turn is a 7 completing the rainbow villain bets $200. Hero calls???

River is a 9. Villain bets $300. Hero folds?????

Thoughts on all streets appreciated!!

all streets seem fine, i wouldnt be that excited to 4b even if given the opportunity unless a bunch of people are much shallower than you and the sb.

3betting pre is much more viable than a 4bet with these stacks, although flat is best. This would be one of the worst hands to do that with i think. With so many to the flop and with the string bet I would call flop/fold turn.

I'm pretty sure considering we went 8 ways your A2 is a pure bluffcatcher. I'm not sure I can pinpoint where I'd play differently but I guess the river is the most likely spot for me to find a fold.

As for your hand, you have one of the few AA hands that can be a dog heads up

ProPokerTools Omaha Hi Simulation

Hand Pot equity Wins Ties
AcAhjd2s48.95% 531,5780
5s6s7d8d51.05% 554,4300

I wouldn't object to an open fold the first time around though you could cooler someone set over set, I'm probably folding to a 3-bet and never 3b or 4b myself with such a weak holding.

Edit: Villain seems ready to stack off and has no fear of us holding KK. This should definitely weight him much more towards KK and K2. Maybe we should fold turn or CIB on flop and check turn (and fold flop to raise)

Open folding? What the actual f, from my experience 9 handed live PLO is precisely about coolering and second besting people, so much less wiggle room/creativity compared to online.

Ah, didn't notice you had a 2 the first time, calling flop/turn and folding river seems right.

Ok ok call! I guess I mean open folding if we think it is common for someone behind us to 3/4b where we just put in dead money to have to fold anyways. But only if we're playing for top set and not using our blockers in 9 way flop.

Not a fan of backraising. You won't get a good SPR for your hand, and your AA is pretty weak. Initial flat is good though, there's a ton of value in oversetting someone.

I think turn is pretty close honestly. KK** is such a huge portion of player's ranges in these spots. It's probably a call, but I fell like it's a bit closer than everyone thinks.

How do people not like backraising here? A 4-bet should make SPR<1 extremely easily

I fold river

YEP. Can't see V bet worse 7 handed unless hero has read.

As played I may have to call river, not sure I am spewing money away if call turn 200 then fold river 300? river did not change any decision we made at turn.

Just fold when villain overbets the turn even if it's only a slight overbet. He's got at least A2 like 90% of the time, and you have 2-3 outs to improve.
