I'd call. You're getting like 2.4-1 on your call(if my math is right, you have like $290 left when he shoves river). I doubt he's shoving Kings Up...so it's basically he either
1.) c/c the nut straight on the turn in order to shove a blank river
2.) or he decided to peel with KKxxdd and hit top set and shoved.
or 3.) He missed his str8/flush draws and got crazy on the river.

I guess it's more of a feel thing while you're at the table. Did he feel strong when he check/called the turn? Did he feel desperate when he shoved the virtual blank river? What did your instincts tell you to do?

Yes 2.4:1, so I need to be good about 30% to break even.

weird. I've often been able to call desperation bets like this against randomers that make no sense whatsoever whilst holding the nuts. 45? Curiosity could get the best of me here. It would help if you knew a little about his game. Against an unknown its close.

I make these calls sometimes, but in general I think this is a fold. This is a spot where I go with my gut on the player.

I wouldn't be suprised to see maybe KK or kings up that had a flush draw or something.

I think the "random donk" factor is strong enough to call this against an unknown, but it's really, really close. Doubt it makes much of a difference either way. I'd expect his range to look something like:

KK + diamonds: 35%
stupid bluff with missed diamonds: 30%
45: 25%
76: 9%
kings up: 1%

This is also a spot where stats over a very small sample or any kind of timing tell could get me to change my decision.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I called and he had AdKdKxX. I still think the decision is pretty close.

fold....even a fish ends up showing Ks up or better more than 50% of the time. It wouldn't be the least bit surprising to see him show down something close to the nuts. Something tells me middle two pair isn't gonna be good 30% of the time, even though it might be good here. Unless you've seen him doing something ridiculous like this in the past on a bluff, it should be an easy fold. But I might just be stupid.
