Hand 1:

I'd bet 1/2 pot ($100) to target J-10 or 9x; if SB had 9-8 or 9-7 they really should be leading that river, so think you'll lose value by checking behind with 3rd nuts based on how everyone played it. Wouldn't be shocked to see him CRAI with 9-8, guess we need to weight how often we get value vs. how often we have to bet-fold (as he should never be bluffing).

Hand 2:

Lead weak like 1/2 pot, pretty standard on that type of board (you are even money against KJ10 hands so need to prevent pot from getting bloated OOP, as you'll never get paid off when the board pairs and you are first to act).

Hand 1 - turns out SB had pocket 8s and HJ had a 9 with a few overs. I was more scared of a CRAI from a 9-7 than a 9-8, because I would be popped on the turn itself. But you are correct that there was definite value to betting. Unlikely 9-8/9-7 would not bet ahead of me.

Hand 2 - I did exactly that, bet ~$50. Everyone folded. Having a set of Aces on that board, I didn't want straight/flush draws to get equity but was wondering if I should have checked behind and seen the turn.

What are stack sizes in hand 2? I am probably not raising from the blinds even with these pretty idyllic aces against a field of limpers. It seldom works out well.

Hand 1 - it's important to realize that when 3 players put in significant (relative to pot size) money in this spot that it's very likely someone has the underfull and you must squeeze (1/3 to 2/3 pot) value out of them.

Hand 2 - I agree with PPG, I limp pre. As played cbet flop, sizing won't matter much imo
