i picked caps in 7, so i'm not pulling my hair out yet. however, rnd 2 gm 7 is the farthest they've gone in the most recent incarnations, so it's almost poetic that this is the barrier they have to cross. against the rangers too. i wouldn't have it any other way, except maybe the habs. either way, a win would be epic.

Bump for 1st preseason game. Im really looking forward to seeing how Orlov looks coming off a long break. Cant wait to see Vrana, and I'm hoping Roy still has something left in the tank to maybe be a 3C on this team. It'll be good to get a look at Djoos too. I don't think Burakovsky lasts on the third line for long. Adding Justin Williams to the 2nd line is huge. He's exactly the play driving winger that will flourish with Kuznetsov, whose possession numbers are strangely lacking at times. Oshie should put up 20-25 goals on the top line. Burakovsky, early on, seems to have great possession numbers regardless, which is obviously phenomenal. I think 90 plays himself out of the top 60 and we get this

My guess is Kuzya and Burakovsky are going to be ping-ponged between 1C/2C until Backstrom comes back from surgery. whoever plays better will probably stay at center. burakovsky has like 3 years to catch up, so i bet they'll move him to wing. more of a shooting forward anyway.

orlov should be mike green lite, but the PP1 spot is taken and his deployment will probably be an issue, as it usually is with that much money committed to first two pairings.

Oshie looks like more of a worker than his reputation would have suggested. Vrana has been good, along with Roy even though he kinda looks like he slogs while skating. Very sloppy game so far, but there have been some bright spots. Carrick has been not good.
