This is really a bittersweet day.
Jim Calhoun is responsible for more sports joy in my life than anyone else. By far. Three national titles, 10 Big East regular-season championships, seven Big East Tournament titles, "Not one dime back." The list is almost endless.
The 1999 and 2011 titles seemed almost miraculous. Same with the Dream Season and the 1996 BET championship. I'll never forget his reaction after winning that one, jumping around like a little kid then very quickly composing himself to shake John Thompson's hand.
He's truly one of the greatest coaches ever. We're incredibly lucky that UConn hired him and that he had the loyalty to stick around.
