I know he was not that productive last year, but I was confident he'd become a very good player. Of course, I didn't expect him to become a monster this fast.

Some other thoughts:

1) I did a great job over the summer lowering my expectations for this season. Now they're completely out of control. Someone please tell me that I shouldn't expect an undefeated national championship so that I'm not heartbroken after the first loss. NOT THAT THERE WILL BE A LOSS!

2) Napier needs to play more under control, but god damn he's got some balls. I'm really surprised how much leash Calhoun has given him already (leaving him in after that terrible 3, letting him run the offense for long stretches even when Kemba is on the floor). I can't remember another UConn freshman getting that kind of leash since El-Amin. I'm sure part of that is necessity, but JC must really believe in the kid.

3) Last time the program had back-to-back wins this big? The 2004 Final Four?

I have to agree with you. I lowered my expectations as well to the point I couldn't tell you who half of their freshmen are.

Few points for me

1) I know Kemba had some times last year where he showed greatness but I never thought he was capable of doing this. Still shocked.

2) Oriakhi has to be on the juice. Lol. No only his size but his overall demeanor is just a complete 180.

3) Quite impressed with the 2 freshmen. As you said Napier looks to be a pretty good point guard to have out there to spell Kemba and to play along side him. Giffey was all over the place tonight. Good things o come from those 2.


Honestly jtg i have no idea what to say or think for that matter. I am in complete shock they played this well. This gives me a good feeling that they can contend in the BE and hopefully make it an exciting winter.

I'm still not convinced that this team is nearly as good as they've looked the last two days, but I'm a hell of a lot more optimistic than I was last week.

Ryan Boatright, a high school senior point guard who committed to UConn a few weeks ago, put up 55 points (22 of 36 shooting), 10 rebounds and 10 steals last night.

Wow, seventh in the AP poll. I was guessing they'd be in the 10-12 range. Being the underdog was fun while it lasted.
