RIOS IS NOT THE SAME AS WELLS.

RIOS IS AN AVERAGE TO ABOVE-AVERAGE LEVEL PLAYER WHILE WELLS IS THE WORST PLAYER ON THE PLANET

STOP EQUATING THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE COLORED AND PLAY THE OUTFIELD

Or we hate them both because they both have massive contracts and have underachieved?

Yes, more oversimplification.

Here are two really tough questions (the answers are available on Google):

1) Whose contract is bigger?
2) Who has underachieved more?

Wells and Wells. What's your point? Because we have one underachiever with a bigger contract, we can't get rid of the other underachiever with a lesser contract?

Not if you are trying to win. Rios has been a superstar for the last two seasons and has been bad (really not terrible, just below-average) this year. Why would you suddenly think that a 28-year old physically gifted and proven player is going to fall off a cliff?

If you're trying to dump salary and rebuild, then keeping Halladay and waiving Rios was ******ed. If you're trying to win now, then keeping Halladay and waiving Rios was ******ed. See where this is going?

rios is not an underachiever. he has underachieved this season. he will probably overachieve his salary for the next 2-3 seasons, and i personally think he'll overachieve his contract by a good margin.

I guess I just don't agree that keeping the best pitcher in baseball and waiving a decent player on a bad contract is somehow a bad thing. I guess that makes me ******ed.

Except Halladay isn't the best pitcher in baseball, Rios is better than decent and his contract isn't bad and most importantly the two moves are completely contrary to any larger plan that the organization has.

McCowan said on fan590 that his sources are telling him that theirs a 99.999% chance the jays have a 100-120 mill payroll next year.

Hes been rather reliable over the years beside saying Sundin was going to the Rangers.
