True, but variance which way? Will the hitting improve (currently bottom 5 in the majors in slugging and OPS) and they start winning some of these games, or does the pitching fall off (currently 4th in ERA and OPS against, 5th in FIP, second in starter ERA) and they’re not in as many close games to start with?

I mean, their BABIP is absurdly bad, even with a small sample, so I would hope it’s the former, but who knows.

Not sure why I’m disappointed, it’s not like we didn’t know this team wouldn’t be good. I guess I just talked myself into thinking there were so few good teams that we could contend with some good luck.

There will some adjustments and variance but he is is going to hit well... I doubt anyone thinks he cant adjust to MLB pitching. As long as he stays patient and doesn't chase they will have to pitch to him and he will be fine..

If they are rebuilding and have a chance to be in contention in 3 or 4 years, then I really don't care if they are an 81-81 team the next couple of years or a 65-70 win team.

I only care that during some suckage years that there is a plan in place. It might actually be counterproductive to acquire players now that might make them a little better, if it means giving up prospects.
