It is pretty disappointing to see what Rogers has not done this off-season.
Josh's time with us is limited, Tulo and Martin will soon be in decline (if not already), and our starting pitching staff is excellent. When looking at who we have under control and what 2019 and beyond might look like, it would seem the Jays should have made a big push this year and next and then look to 2019 as some sort of rebuild or transition.

You don't get that many chances to have a team with a 3 or 4 year playoff run, and right now we are in the middle of that run and instead of trying to milk two more playoff years, the Jays didn't really do anything to address the biggest holes (1st base and/or DH, LF, bullpen). At least nothing on par with where we are as a playoff contender.

I get that there are building and rebuilding cycles, and that there are small market and large market teams, and that there are solid and fickle fan bases. But, we are not in a rebuilding mode, and we are not a small market team. I don't see how being cheap right now makes sense. In two years, maybe. But now?? Why spend the money to get to this point, and then cheap out on the last 10% or so of $$ that could position us better for a very good year?

Is Stroman huge in big games, or am I just imagining that?

Why Goins over Upton?
Why Carrera over Upton?

Goins over Upton, what in the actual ****

At least my family will be happy, a bigger bunch of irrational Goins boosters you'll never meet

meh, utility defensive infielder over 5th OF. Nothing to get upset about imo

We already have Barney, who needs a second backup utility IF.

Upton is more valuable then Carrera and Goins.

Actually think Pearce will be fine there. But that means Smoak is the everyday 1B which is more of a problem

Lol was reading the article on sportsnet, and read this...

"Upton added speed, versatility and some roster depth when he was acquired by the Blue Jays from the San Diego Padres in July 2016 for Hansel Rodriguez. The 32-year-old hit .196/.261/.318/.578 in 165 regular-season plate appearances for Toronto in 2016 but was quiet in the playoffs."

Those 165 PA's he added absolutely nothing with those garbage stats, this paragraph reads as if he was good over that sample but then failed in the playoffs. The reality is, he was terrible for the Jays from day 1 to the end.

Steve Pearce had 5.9 WAR in 102 games in 2014, clearly he's got some potential. He also had 2.2 WAR in his last 60 games of 2016.

Or, it could be filled by about 3 or 4 guys who, in total, might provide some good numbers.

If Barney ends up hitting well for average (and he has at times), he could end up there sharing with Pence. I am not sure at this point why Carrera is going to see any regular LF time, but must be pitching match-ups, I guess.

Also, the whole Goins and Barney thing might be because they see Barney doing some 1B or LF... with Pence and Smoak.

I guess I just think Barney is going to see some time somewhere. More than we might expect.

Zeke with a mild ankle sprain, sitting but available for tonight. Osuna threw 35-40 from flat ground with no pain, bullpen in a couple days, should be ready for the **** pinner.

Too early to worry, but we cant afford poor numbers from, Martin and Tulo this year....not, with no EE.. They have to do better than last year at the plate..

Martin and Tulo have both declined greatly, it wont be surprising at all if that continues this year sadly.

At least the starting pitching is promising so far.

I got flex packs for the past 2 seasons. Didn't think year. Looking to be a good decision.

Maybe our title this year should be: "Awesome starting pitching and, well.....oh well!"

I know it is early, but Jose, Martin and Tulo going to collectively hit .230.....

We'll pile on hits when we don't need them, and be brutal in close games (as usual).

Looks like this year will be harder to watch than most..

Poor Josh

Did I read something at one point this offseason that Smoak was going to try and tone it down a little? Because he doesn't appear to have toned it down a little or at all.
