Liriano and Stroman both pitched last week against the Orioles.

Stroman, 4 ER, 3K
Liriano, 0 ER, 10k

I think those starts, coupled with Liriano's previous start, make Liriano the guy on Tuesday.

now would be a good time for the offense to become good again

Orioles have been really bad vs. LHP all year, I think we should start Liriano.

The offense has been so bad in September, but we are getting lots of baserunners and hitting terribly with RISP. I still think our true talent level is close to what were were last year.

Last year Stroman was our number 3 starter in the playoffs. This year he's our number 5, and thus should instead be a good bullpen guy. He could be what replaces Benoit.

Last year Dickey was starting playoff games too. Our rotation is so much better this year.

Maybe this doesn't mean anything and I'm stupid and it's entirely possible, but I think the Jays are way better prepared for this year's run.

Last year we destroyed everything in sight for the last 2 months of the year and didn't really deal with much adversity, hell we rested guys at the end the year.

This year we have been through the s**t. Hard work in the trenches. Guys doing some soul searching, changing who they are and how they do things. More small ball. Lots of scrutiny of close calls and decisions made (the fights, bullpen choices, etc..).

We are battle ready. We're ready for close games. We're ready for the lights and hype and different TV crews and a new looking field. It's just different this time of year.

We literally just played about as bad as we could for a month and we have still have a shot.

But none of that means anything now, it's 1 baseball game, and we all know anything can happen out there. But I have no doubt we're prepared and ready for this game Tuesday.

I just hope the offday treats the bullpen well, and that Liriano shuts the O's down.

(Liriano hasn't been named the starter, but I'm more than convinced he should be).

isn't like the O's entire lineup righties other than Davis? not a problem?

Stroman starting. I'm sure it'll be a short leash, but the thought of Liriano coming out of the pen scares the **** out of me.

Stroman starting is one of the dumbest decisions I can remember.

Literally every piece of data that exists says Liriano should start.

Hoping it's Stroman once through the order, then Liriano twice or whatever. Also, this is a different round than the ALDS, which means you can have a different playoff roster. Sanchez and Happ really shouldn't be on the roster, if for no other reason than to lengthen the bench.

I wanted Liriano to start, but with certain batters people are reading a little too much into the Orioles splits in 2016.

In 2016 Trumbo has a WRC+ of 146 vs. RHP and 54 vs. LHP
For his career he is 110 vs. RHP and 113 vs. LHP

Wieters hasn't been as dire as Trumbo vs. LHP in 2016, but for his career Wieters has been better vs. LHP than RHP, but not in 2016.

2016 Machado is better vs. LHP, for his career he's been better vs. RHP

Schoop, Davis, Jones
All clearly hit RHP better than LHP, but again Adam Jones has a career WRC+ of 92 vs. LHP and it is 51 this year. It's possible he completely forgot how to hit LHP this year, but I don't think the O's are truly the worst hitting team in the AL vs. LHP.

A big benefit of having a LHP starting is Kim/Alvarez don't get to play, but having an extra lefty in the pen will be beneficial for that reason.

Liriano is good, but he was also given away at the trade deadline by a team in the WC hunt. A couple good starts in a row doesn't make him an ace.

Marco Estrada is on the Blue Jays' Wild Card Game roster.
Francisco Liriano is also on the roster in addition to starter Marcus Stroman, but fellow rotation members Aaron Sanchez, J.A. Happ and R.A. Dickey are not. Aaron Loup and Scott Feldman cracked the roster as part of the Blue Jays' bullpen.

Just some shockingly sensible words right here.

(not shocking given the source, I mean, only that sensible words are hard to come by these days)
