The Upton pickup is looking really important right now...except that he has no extra base hits, no steals, basically done nothing since joining the Jays.

Pretty brutal to have Bautista, Pillar and Carrera all out at the same time.
Good chance this is the last straw for him, also his contract offering next year won't be that high.

I don't like that the Jays are not investing more for 2016...a year that could be our best since the WS years.

I was wrong on Happ. Thought he would be an average starter.

Right on Price. Well, in the sense that I never thought we should sign him.

I am not sure anyone here advocated the Jays even making an offer to Price, let alone declaring they would be a serious bidder??

Didn't like Chavez.

Martin's catch at the Astros dugout was awesome. My lower back hurts every time I see the replay.

Oh, and El Rata needs to have a chat with his buddy, Smoak....

Took a trip to Toronto this weekend, went to Friday's game as well as yesterday. Guess I probably missed the best Jays performance of the weekend today.

Is it an MLB thing or a Blue Jays thing that they don't show many replays of anything on the big screen?

Really stood out on Friday when Martin threw out Altuve at third. Kept on waiting for something. Nothing ever shown.

Again on Saturday, Ceciliani almost gets to that ball at the wall in the 9th inning. I was sitting in the outfield 100s, so couldn't see that part of the field. I could make out one corner of the big screen, but nothing shown there either. Only saw what happened because there were TVs nearby showing the Sportsnet broadcast.

I was watching the Yankees broadcast and they were thrilled about the game being ready for the books after the DP ended the top of the 5th.

Many Lola were had when I checked the score 2 hours later.

If rain persists for the night, yanks can be given the win after 5 right?

Now that Russ and Tulo are hitting, our lineup is just ridiculous. If Upton starts producing at all, and Bautista comes back and is what he had been this year (a down year, but still a solid bat) this team is just too ridiculous top to bottom.

My Jays to win the AL 8-1 bet (biggest sports bet by far that I've ever made) that I made in March is looking solid.

At the beginning of the season, if anyone told us that our starting outfield against the Yankees on Aug 17, 2016 would be BJ Upton, Ceciliani, and Zeke, (and Barney would be at 3rd), we would have been OMG..what the hell happened to our team..

But actually, all is OK.

Despite the Gibbons/Donaldson fireworks that seemed to have been extinguished quickly...

Donaldson came back to the dugout after at an at bat and either slammed his bat against the padded upright rail or tossed it down in the dugout. It bounced kind of funny and Martin (I think) was nearby and looked back a bit puzzled.

Anyway, Gibby approaches Josh and gets in his grill. I assume Gibby was telling him to settle down (and rightly so) as the bat could have hit someone. Josh is now in Gibby's face and they are jawing and Thole and Tulo just got between them and that was it.

After the game both of them made light of it. IMO, it was Josh getting frustrated and Gibby doing what he ought to do by telling him to be careful with the ****ing bat.

According to all reports, it could not have ended better. If anyone is trying to make something of this as some clubhouse tension or problem, Josh and Gibby gave them nowhere to go.

End of story..

Seems kind of odd that Tabler is openly talking about how Liriano is going to pitch this game and how he's going to throw more 4 seam fastballs as opposed to the 2 seam fastballs he had been throwing in previous starts.

I mean, why would you want to be potentially telling the other team what pitches to be expecting, if previously they were likely to expect something else and be a little more fooled by his stuff today as a result?

And wow, it's like we're playing with our B squad today. No Bautista, no Pillar, no Donaldson, no Tulo, and our number 6 starter on the mound. It would be pretty huge if we could ship a win on the road here against a division leading team. I mean, if there was ever a game to bet against the Jays this year this would've been it.
