Martin turns awkwardly to take the throw and the ball hits Martin in the shin pad (I think). The ball heads towards home plate and so does Machado. Martin trips, but could never have gotten to ball in time anyway. Machado scores.

Was more funny to watch than read..

PS. Only funny because we won...

Jays apparently interested in Ervin Santana, would be nice to add SP depth and get a back end starter for next year.

Addition by Subtraction Department: Jesse Chavez is on his way to the Dodgers. I truly don't even care what they got for him.

Harold Ramirez one fo the prospects coming back for Hutch. He's a top-100ish prospect, depending on who you ask. Probably taking on all the money if they're just giving up Hutch and getting prospects back.

And picked up Scott Feldman as well.

With Liriano now, is this it for Dickey and Thole?

Fangraphs had him as the #5 prospect in Pittsburgh preseason ahead of Jameson Taillon with 55FV. The writeup is pretty funny though

Ramirez’ legs and hands work on completely different wavelengths, making his raw power pretty untouchable and leaving him looking fooled on a lot of swings. The fun part is his hands and barrel awareness are so good that he can consistently dump balls in the outfield even when he has completely lost his balance over his legs.

In the video above, this manifests itself in a swing on which Ramirez appears to have been punched in the stomach by an invisible fist, hanging on for dear life to make contact, only to square it up and hit a sure single into left field. Major-league pitchers will be able to get him off balance more than he is now, but there’s a special place in the game for hitters with his ability to barrel the ball. Even if he is limited to left field defensively, his hit tool will carry him into a valued job in the big leagues.

Reese McGuire is the other prospect. 21 year old catcher in AA. All the prospect sites have him rated ahead of Ramirez. KATOH has him as #46 in baseball as of their July update.

This seems like a nice piece of business

Yup he was a first rounder in 2013.

Also it seems like Liriano really pitched well when Martin was his catcher.

I like this trade for the Jays.

Deadline day was really good in general. Not as flashy as last year but a lot of moves that should really solidify pitching.

I wish they'd just go to a 6 man staff instead of Sanchez going to the pen. Elite setup man though.

Seems like PIT wanted him for a while now. I'm sure Searage has all kinds of tricks up his sleeve ready to go.

No Josh, no Tulo, and the back end of the rotation? I'll be happy if we can snag one win in this series.
