I think he actually got a few shots in on Odor.

Anyone with MLB.tv look at the Texas feed?

I thought it was interesting the respect shown for Adrian Beltre. As soon as he grabbed Bautista, not only did Bautista calm down, but everybody left the 2 of them alone completely.

Would have been the ultimate heel move to come give Bau a couple body blows while Beltre had him

PILLAR was already my favorite blue jay but the way he got in there like a madman and took on 4 rangers at once solidified his place in my heart

Did anyone else other than Bautista get punched?

The slide by Bautista wasn't even bad, he went through the bag, but kept his feet down, just a hard yellow card, unlike many of the red card slides I see into second when guys keep their feet up

Agreed, I think Bautista is going to get suspended and I think it's going to be a bull**** suspension. He committed a misdemeanor and had was the victim of two felonies and MLB is going to punish him as if he were culpable for the felonies.

The Bautista slide was completely standard until this year. He didn't even hit him or seem to try that hard to do so, he just slid very late.

It was a really late slide, and he's already had a slide violation this season, so he's got no real excuse. Nobody is going to give Bush the benefit of the doubt re: letting one get away in to Bautista's ribs, so I don't see why anyone should give Bautista the benefit of the doubt for his slide that was late and aggressive.

Can't forget, either, that had Odor not literally beaten him to the punch, Bautista was going to take Odor's head off.

LOL @ thinking that Bautista slide was no big deal.

It was clearly dirty and there was 100% intent to instigate something/retaliation.

it wasn't dirty, it was hard and overaggressive, but look at his legs and feet. No one is getting injured with that ever

he should have went in with a 2-foot legbreaker

if odor doesnt react like a ****ing ape you never hear about that slide again

he slid before he reached the bag, he slid directly towards the bag (unlike that link Pudge posted above) and he kept his spikes down

maybe it qualifies for the new interference rule, but it sure as hell wasnt dirty

I mean, ok... There certainly have been a lot worse slides in baseball history, I'll concede that.

However, all takeout slides are dirty IMO, especially now that it's been outlawed.

It's similar to hits to the head in hockey. Scott Stevens used to be a god, if he played in this era he'd be considered the dirtiest player in the game.

Have a feeling people will look at guys like Chase Utley the same way.
