Or, it provides you with a way to defend your simplistic and illogical position that does not consider bench strength when considering position player WAR loss and pitching WAR gain.
Explain to me how trading a position player for pitching is a wash when we have "some" ability to offset WAR from the bench but "NO" ability to get +WAR from the bullpen. Is it your opinion that we have = amount of positional player replacement as we do pitching?
You did watch the game yesterday where our Loup and Tepera (combined -WAR) could not hold the lead and we lost, once again, by 1 run. This, after a good pitching start. And, our mighty offense did what it often does in tight, low scoring games.
Before you say lol sample size, this is what we have been doing all year. Lacking offence in tight games and losing opportunities with poor pitching. Yeah it is cool that we are piling up offensive stats and +run differential with 10-2 and 9-3, etc games. But we can win more games if give up some of the offence that is gaining runs but not value, for some pitching that cant prevent runs.
If you don't understand the non linear offence/pitching dynamic the Jays have, then at least admit that you are not qualified to be making statements about offense loss and pitching gain as being a wash.
