Gotta say, I'll find it pretty hilarious if Gibby manages to outlast Farrell.

I can't really find any managerial mistakes Gibbons makes and it he comes across like a great guy in interviews and such.

Can't help but wonder if the Jays had still had Stroman, the division wouldn't be close. If they end up running at Pyth, it might not be close either way.

Most of that is with Goins or Carrera or whichever bad batter happens to be up at the time though. Reyes is a guy that can bunt for a hit often enough that it's not completely horrendous, and Pillar runs well. I'd have an issue if it were Donaldson or Colabello running bunts out there, but as long as the good hitters are swinging the bat, I can just chalk it up to olds having different views than the internet and move on with it.

The biggest thing a manager controls, to me, is pitcher management. Going to the bullpen, burning through the only remaining lefty relief option at the right time, etc., and I'd say Gibby does that better than most. Even if he doesn't, who else is available to manage that would be a clear upgrade?

Anyone that's calling for Gibby's head is a bit of a buffoon imo. Especially since firing him midseason still means paying him this year and next and also paying the new guy for the rest of this season, which would surely to god be budgeted against whatever is left to spend this year on any kind of rotation/bullpen upgrade.

The difference in runs scored between us and the 2nd place team is the same difference between 2nd and 29th.

A good/competent manager does not screw over your team.

Idiots like Cito Gaston cost your team couple wins a year imo.

But he did one good thing in playing Jose Bautista over Travis Snider which worked out, but seemed really stupid when it happened, which probably is stupid 99/100 times but somehow Jose learned how to hit at 27/28 and we got lucky.

BUT GIBBEHHH GOAT

Ya, this offense is pretty sick.

Stephen Brunt going to a segment on this possibly being the best offense ever...

In June they have 29 more runs than 2nd best AL team.

Sick thing is that all of Travis, Reyes, Bautista, Encarnacion haven't even been 100% healthy this year.

This is likely the best offensive team in Blue Jays history.

My immediate reaction is I'd take WAMCO + Rickey over this offense, and that there's no way this offense is as good as the 1939 Yankees, but I'd be interested to see which teams have gone off the charts compared to the rest of the league the way we have.

I am less concerned with the calls and more concerned that MLBers can get this far without learning to bunt. I am guessing the primary causes are aluminum bats, the influx of players from the Dominican, etc, and a general move away from sacrificing due to knowledge gained from sabermetrics.

I am old school and think all these guys should be able to bunt. I get it that guys can be bad at it, but not knowing how to bunt is just plain wrong.

FFS Navarro hitting into the shift. You're a .230 hitter with little power and no success this year why not try poking one past 3rd base.

If this is the tipping point that makes AA go out and get Papelbon instead of another starter, I'm gonna be pissed.
