Very good. I have really only seen Saunders play during the '13 WBC, and he obviously looked great there.

Sanchez is going to be terrible as a starter..

I think he was running like god in his brief time with the Jays anyways..

I think you'll get your wish, Saunders probably fills this void.

With all this money we're saving, it feels like there's something big brewing. Maybe a trade for a big starter? Just a hunch.

Yeah, I'm v pleased with Saunders + expendable cash for a better starter for Happster and Melky.

If we could get them for that, I'd be interested, but I doubt we'll be able to.

btw, credit to AA: I couldn't understand why we didn't sign Lawrie to an extension in 2012. I get it now.

we score more than enough runs to win the division, we need to allow less.

there are plenty of relievers our there, and we don't need miller cause we have loup and cecil. so i say we let the robertson and miller chips fall, then we after guys like k-rod, raffy soriano, gregerson, or even like grilli or romo if they arent too expensive.

if we sign an ace thats great, and gives us another starter to use as trade bait but i really dont think it's necessary. right now it seems like everyone is waiting for lester to sign and then the other chips like scherzer and shields and stuff will start to fall into place. i think our rotation 1-5 is very solid, with not much drop off from our #1 guy to our #5. I also think our rotation is really difficult to deal with as we have a crazy assortment of different styles from our starters and i think that makes it tough to play against us. if martin is as good with a staff and pitch framing as im reading then we should see considerable gains from our rotation.

plus i heard we are getting a softer field which should help our D, while not really hindering our HR based offense.

this is just me speaking out loud about how i feel right now at this particular moment
Quoting because Saunders in LF fits this post pretty perfectly.

i mean i was just spitballing but it makes sense

you don't need ****ing all stars at every position to win the world series

Melky walking is fine, we get a pick remember.

More is coming still for sure, it's December.

There's still room to add melky imo. Revolving Dh, platoon pillar and Saunders. Melky lf on days where not Edwin dhs.

Not seeing it, everything I've seen so far sure made it seem like AA was moving on from Melky.

They interviewed Saunders on MLB Radio this morning, he sounds really excited to be coming over. Said as a kid he tried to model his swing after John Olerud.

i'm pretty sure AA said last night that he was done going after melky.

he also said he wouldn't deal starting pitching like 2 days ago and there went happ, so who knows

Why am I getting excited about the Blue Jays again?

This happens every offseason.

I think Melky comes back. He's gonna DH and platoon when it makes sense. Markakis' deal probably just set the market as well.

I'll bet a few bucks on Melky not coming back if anyone really thinks he is.

I think he's gone as well, but he will be replaced.

The Astros reaaallllllyyyy don't want to pay Dex Fowler 9M this year, I want him.

But this year they're going for it! :eyeroll:

Happens every offseason, Jays sign a free agent or make a trade and every beat writer under the sun pumps it up when it is really just a move to keep surviving.

Bit early to get excited. I love the moves so far, but 2B is ugly, I don't have confidence in Pompey/Pillar or Valencia/Smoak as starting options, our SP is at best OK, and we're kind of missing a bullpen.

We have some money to spend, but how much is going to determine how we fix the above. I think getting one more big starter (this could include Liriano/Santana types, though I think I'd rather trade for a contract) and moving Sanchez to the 'pen fixes a lot, but those are still some gaping holes.
