How about a reality check. The top 5 records in the AL so far are

Tor
Bos
Det
KC
Texas

Bos has played ZERO games against these teams

Blue Jays have played 11... games against these teams

The Blue Jays have played 11 games against the Tigers, Royals, and Rangers. Oh my! They must be good to have gotten through that gauntlet! Face it, the Blue Jays have played soft competition thus far and will soon fade when they have to face the real teams in the division.

You are truly funny. The Red Sox are 19-12 and 9-0 against the Yankees and Baltimore. Do you really think the Jays are worried about NY (with their huge ERA) and Baltimore? I mean I like the Red Sox, and I think it is great that you have padded your record off NY and Baltimore, but let's look at how you have played the bottom of the AL West and Central (not real teams, according to you). Sox are 7-6 against the bottom of the AL Central and AL West, and the Jays have owned the central and west.

I worry about the Rays, and expect the Jays will play the Red Sox tough (as usual). Blatimore and NY will be fine, though.

okay, now i can't tell if you're leveling or just being a huge homer. you're talking like the jays have actually contended in this division over the last 10 years or something.

ummm, we have finished over .500 5 years in a row or something. Even beat the Red Sox 3? years ago I think.

This thread needs less flaming and at least SOME reckless optimism about Cecil for Cy one day or something. Jesus the kid just threw an 8 inning shutout in his 2nd outing - on the road.

I agree. Cecil should have earned a spot after these last two outings. A while ago it was OMG who is going to fill the holes behind Halliday and Litsch. Now, IMO, you have Halliday, Romero, Richmond, Cecil, Tallet, Janson...... It seems Litsch is going to have a hard time getting back in. Nice problem to have.

This is very promising, becuase with Marcum and McGowan, we never really know if or when they would get back to where they were. Sadly, many young pitchers never get their form back.

Mcgowan had shoulder problems which is very worrying. Often pitchers with should problems never come back. Marcum had Tommy John which has often been successful for all pitchers not named Bo Jr. Pitchers who throw hard sliders often have arm troubles and do not last, I wonder if the slider will go the way of the screwball eventually. Marcum seems to be ahead of schedule, and may be back in June which is pretty screwed up because it is considered almost a minimum of 12 months before you can consider a comeback, but I guess Tommy John is becoming much more routine, that or they are screwing it up now ala BJ(maybe?).

I threw about 40 sliders in my first pitching appearance since little league last weekend. My forearm hurt for a week. Based on this scientific study, I believe young pitchers should not throw sliders.

look @ all the Tommy John surgeries that have ever been done. Pretty sure they have all been on slider throwing pitchers, this is not based on information only a hunch (plus Liriano, Ryan, Marcum)

40 Sliders waaaatttttt, lol

Im assuming your some random 20 something pitching who is in decent shape. You probably threw like 80% sliders out of your total pitches? Damn your crazy lol

Not crazy tercet. Just bad, very bad.

In a related matter, does anyone in the city down for some long toss during the week? I have baseball every weekend and need to get my arm in gear!

Tercet check your pms!

Also, much love for this quote from the espn preview of tomorrow's game:

There doesn't appear to be any bad blood between Burnett and Halladay. Burnett said one of the reasons he originally signed with Toronto was to learn from the former Cy Young award winner.
"It's funny, because when we parted ways, I told him, 'Thanks for everything. You've been a huge influence,'" Burnett told the Yankees' official Web site. "And he said, 'Thanks. I learned a lot from you, too.' I kind of laughed -- 'What did you learn from me, dude?'"

I think we should give Burnett the silent treatment, not that we could ever organize that. It would be cool if when he was announced the stadium just went dead silent.

Agreed. The higher the attendance the higher the epicness.

Also, just gather up 10-15 people to hold placards in front of each gate (and get there early).
