Great to see the BlueJays playing well. Bullpen is deep, so if guys like Romero can continue to pitch well, we could see 90+ wins.

Rios: same problem. Not getting off his right side. This, combined with his consistent approach of not seeming to care is quite annoying.

I think Cito should sit him down for a game or two and go with Snyder, Lind and Wells in the OF until Rios can show in BP that he can actually get through the ball.....might motivate him.

As soon as Rios gets semi-productive, I would love to see the Jays trade him.

I like the way the team is...When Rios gets it going this offense is gonna be even scarier. Pitching is fine, I'm willing to let Purcey pitch through his struggles but we'll see if the team is.

Ouch why? He was our best hitter last year IIRC. He is has the best arm and the most speed in the outfield. He is usually a very good outfielder although he has struggled this year. He will turn out around it is just a matter of time, could be 1 week could be 2 months.
I also really like Rios because when he is swinging well he can hit well against some of the game's best pitchers not just inflate his numbers against the game's lousy pitchers like a bunch of players do.

Rios is not a winner.

I was so happy he got booed the other day after pulling up on that foul ball.

EDIT: When is the last time Alex Rios showed one iota of intensity in a Jays uniform?

I just think Rios' long-term value is overrated. I think the jays could get something from team who might expect Rios to be a 20HR 100RBI guy.
I am alos frustrated that Rios' mechancal problems at the plate are fairly easy to diagnose, yet he still reverts back to the same problematic approach.

It is a bit like Wells' tendency to go after the first pitch he sees. Pitchers know this and give him what appears to be a fastball down the middle and it breaks down and Wells ends up lunging with a swing that is all arms and pops out. Just watch over the course of the season how often Wells does this.

Rios isn't a winner he eats babies, which make him sluggish and docile.

Ricky Romero still needs a nickname imo

I already stated the Ricky "Cold as Ice" Romero name...but I think an illiteration is the way to go here.

As mentioned before, Ricky "Rakens" Romero...

but how about:

Ricky "rumplestiltskin" Romero - cuz he produces gold (yarn?)
Ricky "ricardo" Romero - ?
Pretty Ricky Romero?
Ricky "The Dragon" Romero - after the great "Ricky The Dragon the Steamboat"
Ricky "Ruby" Romero - becuz he pitched a "gem"?
Ricky "Gustavo Chacin" Romero?

i dont know...I know theres a name out there waiting for the taking....and Romero deserves one.

Given this (as well as most, I guess) city's love affair with the 'lunchboxers,'
the 'no passion' beliefs are standard. But since you know this already, you gotta admit it's pretty frustrating having a black ****ing hole in the 3 spot.

honestly Rios will get better, get worried about Purcey's control if you want to bitch about something. Why is everyone so damn worried about Rios and saying how garbage he is? He is the only hitter not doing well (Wells has been ok)

Hopefully the Jays get through Purcey's headaches just long enough to bring McGowan back into the fold. If Romero can sustain the quality of his outings thus far, this rotation looks pretty decent.

Rios is just so frustrating to watch...he'll be a career underachiever iyam, he just gives off that aura like he could care less what the outcome is, as long as he gets his $6.4 mil a season or w/e it is and gets to party it up at Caribana.

He's clearly not going to hit .204 this year, but ffs, it sure would've been nice to have him firing on all cylinders coming into the season.

Only 14 games into a 162-game season, and still the other bats in the lineup are picking him up. Let's not crucify Rios just yet and give him some time to start producing, because I'm sure he will come around in the near future.

Agreed.

Undoubtedly, the Jays will not keep up this torrid pace for too long. Eventually they'll go on a bit of a losing streak and Rios will either be given an extra day or two off to find himself, or Gaston will change up the lineup to take some pressure off him. Remember though, the three hitter never gets juicy ****-shots to tee off of like an 8-hitter does, especially not with the way Scutaro and Hill have been getting on base in front of him. What I'm trying to say is, you won't just be able to put Lind in the 3-hole and have him put up the same numbers there as he has been putting up hitting fifth.

This has to be an imperceptibly small factor.

Awesome. These will be my first ever Jays games .

BTW I've always liked the Flames (Leafs fan obv; Flames have been my second team ever since reading a book about them as a little kid) and am watching every game. Were you at the Saddledome tonight?
