We are running really good. The record is a result of VG pitching and basically just owning the 7th inning onwards.. Lots of runs scored and not many allowed.

But, the pitching cant run this good all year and the runs wont come if Travis and Martin don't hit and if Donaldson is out for a while. I do like what Granderson has done and Pearce is looking good. Diaz has some pop and Solarte can contribute. Grichuk has been disappointing.

Wonder why the have Biagini in game 2 when they are trying to get the rotation back on normal rest?

The youth of this team is looking good. I hope Tulo just stays perpetually injured so he isn't a distraction. I see no value in him at this point whatsoever.

Yuli Gurriel on his brother Lourdes Jr., who was called up to the Blue Jays from Double-A: “Don’t want to give him too much pressure, but he hits better than me, runs better than me and plays better than me defensively.”

This is fun

Josh hurt
Smoak .228 (though a decent OBP)
Morales .229
Martin .140
Travis .130
Grichuk .086

And we be 14-8....

We have lost maybe 1 game we should have won, and won many we should have lost.

Gotta love it.

We just need to get some regs rolling before the run good goes away.

At some point Gibby can't give Grichuk any more ABs, and some point has arrived. We have too many other mix and match options for the outfield.

Toronto Blue Jays - And the Teoscar goes to...

So Josh is back, but instead of having him stay in Florida (where the jays will be on Friday), they bring him up to Cleveland for one day for a double-header in crappy weather. Seems odd.

Oh, and whatever he had is all better now...(we all hope)...

Anyone else think that Teoscar Hernandez is a little complacent and awkward out in LF or RF?. He seems to be in no rush to get to the ball, and also takes some bad routes. Really looks both lazy (or no sense of urgency) and unpolished in the field. I noticed that last September but thought maybe I was just being hard on the new guy, but this year I see the same. I keep wanting to say "move your ass" when something goes near him, lol

Rebuild time....

Probably not a bad thing, but we are done for 3 or 4 years (at least). If Josh gets healthy he can be put on the market as a rental and we might get something.

Next year we have Martin, Tulo and Morales eating 54M (in 2020 just Tulo at 14M).

2019 Starting Lineup

Guerrero 3B (or too soon??)
Gurriel SS (maybe??)
Travis 2B ( Call me optimistic)
Smoak 1B (at only 6M should be a good deal)
Hernandez (LF)
Pillar (CF) arbitartion
RF ?
DH?
Martin/Maile? (pre arbitration) (C)

If we could get Granderson for 5M again that would be a nice spare part and veteran to have.

Pitching
Stroman (arbitration)
Sanchez (arbitration)

Osuna (arbitration)
Oh (2.5M team option seems good for us)
Tepara (arbitration)

$$ Baggage

Martin (untradeable at 20M, even if we ate 12M or so)
Tulo (glass boat at 20M)
GIDP Morales (slow boat who cant see with or without glasses 14M)

Question marks

Happ (Free Agent and will probably be gone)
Estrada (Free Agent and will probably be gone)
Solarte (has a 5.5M team option)
Diaz (pre-arbitration)
Grichuk... see ya later..
Axford and Clippard are free agents
Pearce (free agent)
Garcia (10M team option probably wont get offered)
Loup is a free agent (see ya)

Thoughts on what we might look like in 2018-2022??

He's now batting .433 with a .728 slugging percentage.
meanwhile, Russ is playing 3B today...

damn, even Loup gone

any of these prospects they got any good?
saw the one pitcher was the 'stros 10th best prospect or something

and are they not trading Donaldson?
i understand that for many reasons the market probably evaporated on him, but wtf
they just gonna lose him in free agency now? pony up to keep him?
in any case, well played

Jays ever gonna be good again?
in Vladdy Jr we trust i guess

Shocked they couldn't move Granderson today.

Donaldson could still be traded before August 31st. I'm sure some teams want to see him actually step on a field before giving up what the Jays would be asking for. If he plays a few games and looks okay there will be an August market for him.

me a year or two ago: seems like the Jays should trade Donaldson while his value is high, but i don't really know **** about baseball, and these Cleveland jabronies are supposedly brain geniuses, so...
