Drew dribbling into the trap and then throwing the jump pass was so predictable. Don't like playing him versus the zone, I think Marshall is much better in the half court.

also, barnes needs to go to the rim, esp when he's shooting this badly. seems like he's beating his man and then looking to pull up almost immediately


edit: but i agree w/the announcers here-- they haven't really been bad shots per se. would just like to see him go to the basket harder on nights like this

not that they matter but im gonna write obama a letter asking for reform on preseason college basketball rankings cuz they're just so ridiculous. maybe imprisonment for people that vote an unproven team so high that later proves to be heavily flawed.

meh that's a bit reactionary. every team is capable of losing when their best player (by far) plays poorly. obv a concern that he shot this poorly, but he looked fine to me. some of them just didn't fall. wish he had been aggressive going to the rim off the dribble as he was off cuts, but it was nice to see that he wasn't in full chuck mode which was my concern when i saw the stats from the 1st half

i just get mini tilted when HB is a preseason 1st team all american and they are ranked top 10 when neither are accurate. getting respect like that can't help them. i can't prove it hurts them but i'd rather have a team with something to prove and the desire to earn respect than it to be handed to them. and i'm not picking on HB despite his individual accolade and i'm sure the entire team works hard but a small part of me wishes neither the AA or top 10 existed. then again...that all changes with the loss today cuz if they had any delusions im sure today was a nice wakeup call.

as for writing obama, he doesn't respond to my fantasy football complaints so no reason to assume he'll respond to those about college bball

after last season this team has something to prove regardless of what preseason rankings say and i don't understand why you are tilted that a very good player is a preseason all american, but to each their own. today may be another close one but i'm hoping for a comfortable victory

What really gets me is what appears to be the lack of fire not only from the players but the coaching staff. I mean right after Henson misses another 2 FTAs (including an air ball) he comes out and Roy gives him a low-five and doesn't say a word to him. I'll be damned if I'm going to not say a word to some guy who has made like 2 out of his last 15 FTAs. I mean are you really a basketball player... what the hell are you?

Also, Hubert is exactly right... Minn and Vandy want to play this half-court low scoring game. The staff needs to proactively make adjustments to create a faster tempo that plays to our perceived strengths and creates an advantage for our players.

We did one half court trap and created a turnover. Why haven't we run that half court trap 4 or 5 other times? Let the other team prove to us that it is a play that won't benefit us.

I still can't comprehend how a D1 player can be a backcourt player and have the handles of Dexter Strickland. He literally looks like he could dribble the ball off his foot every time he's handling it

yet he is one of our most important players this season. his A/TO ratio in the early going is fine and he leads the team in steals/minute. also, he is one of the few players that can create his own shot. finally, he is a beast out in the open court and on the break.

re: this game, we need to be pressing the **** out of this team. it is obv they can't handle the frenetic pace that it creates.
