I HATE DeRosa bunting in that spot, even if it works. Let him, Pujols, and Holliday swing away. It's only the 6th inning. Play to get 2-3 runs, not 1.

there ya go

Edit: LOOOOVE the crowd chanting "Yadi" when he comes up. Now we just gotta get 1st base side to yell "Clutch!" with the 3rd base side responding "Yadi!"

It's absolutely terrible. Our run expectation with Derosa up with a runner on 1st and no one out is almost surely higher than with a runner on 2nd and 1 out. That's without factoring in the times that Derosa fails to advance the runner. That 1st run means a lot more than the 2nd run but it's proven that sac bunts are marginal in most spots and downright dumb when you have a guy with a slg % above .450. If it's the 8th inning or someone like Brendan Ryan is up than I don't mind bunting.

Great win tonight. Too bad we can't have Wainwright and Carp start every game.

I'll take Pineiro any day too.

Lohse is said to have fixed the flaw in his mechanics in his last bullpen. If thats the case and we got Welly out of the rotation, we may be set to rattle off a lot of wins in the next few weeks.

Gotta love the standard 9 hit shutout.

Back in first place. Talk can now continue about shipping da rangs.

Oh and I'm liking Brendan Ryan more and more every day. Kids got some mad hops around short.

The Cardinals' offense has averaged 6.4 runs in the five games since newcomers Holliday and Julio Lugo joined the lineup on Friday. Me likey.

Khalil is hitting .345 in 14 games at Memphis, with two jacks tonight. Interesting.

Thurston is lucky he's TLR love child. Still can't see any reason to have him up when Ryan, Greene, or Lugo could play 3b if anything ever happened to Derosa.

IMO its a move that should have been made about 6-8 weeks ago.
This is incredible news for me. I'm driving up to St. Louis for the game Friday, and was so pissed when I saw Welly was the probable pitcher. Now we might actually win!

If I see Thurston in one more MLB baseball game this year, I'm going to throw something. ZERO reason for him to be on the club now.

But he is so valuable as a late inning defensive sub and clutch pinch hitter!

If we waste this Pinero start I'm going to flip out and uppercut a puppy in the head.

Ugh. Why is Ludwick bunting and why is Stavinoha hitting sixth in the lineup?

Meh. Carpenter is still on anther level compared to almost everyone in baseball. But yeah I'm sure Wainwright and Pineiro would be number ones on plenty of other teams.
