I just get into a depressed funk when the Cards look so bad, like they did during that losing streak. I can take losses where they play well but get unlucky, or the other team plays great, but watching guy after guy go up there and hack away just makes me hate life in general and baseball in particular. So I tend to stay away from the thread since it makes me sad.

Until the next game.

I'm just a little pissed that I was in a party box on Friday night and in the 3rd base box on Monday afternoon and they had to lose 4 straight to the ****ing Rockies.

I understand your frustations...but seriously, NO ONE gave us a chance in '06, and I see no reason why this team can't do that again; especially if they make some sort of trade to improve the offense.

06 was great but was little more than a massive luckbox where we managed to catch fire and play our best baseball at the perfect time of year. The 04 and 05 teams were actually much better IMO.

Last year our team played well over their heads for 90% of the year and very well could have made the playoffs if management had made any sort of late season moves (closer??)

This year we finally have Carp and Waino both healthy and a pretty solid bullpen. These are all great things to have in the playoffs. We could very well steal the division or wildcard. But its going to be very frustrating if we miss the playoffs by 2 games or if our offense gets shut down by good pitching in the first round.

This is STL by the way, we expect to make the playoffs. We want more than that. We are good but could easily be great if management had the skills to deal or the want to spend money.

In short: I'm getting fed up with management not with the team.

I watched the game and still can't believe how no one shows up to baseball games in certain parts of the country. It looked pretty pathetic.

Frustrated because management keeps giving the company line about doing what it takes to compete, and then never shelling out the dollars. Being aggressive last offseason anyone? The last time the cardinals made any trade of significance during the season to help the offence was for Larry Walker. Before that... picking up Will Clark? It's been a long time. We're "wasting" Pujols' prime years if we don't step up.

Oh. And this. I have no doubt Brendan Ryan, Brian Barden, et al are doing everything they can.

Sweet 2 for 4 today by Yadi after stinging the ball yesterday despite going hitless.

Anybody want another reason to hate Moz?

Remember a guy named Felipe Lopez? Late season pickup by the Cards last year that improves his BA 150 points to .385 after being traded. I was wrong when I said Boyer was Mo's only signing that had actually performed above expectations.

Except at the end of the year he was inexplicably released despite saying that he loved playing on STL. Well I just checked his stats for Arizona this year.

55games and 224 ABs
.304/.360/.429

Oh yeah and he plays 3B, 2B, SS, and can cover corner OF in a pinch. Fitting our need of a 3B who can move elsewhere if Glaus comes back.

But yeah Thurston's .238 is pretty good too.

Yes I remember Lopez. Was very solid with the Reds and hit .385 for us in 43 games, instead we decided "lol let's dump him and move one of our OFs to 2B."

I used to think the division was getting better but if we're still a half game out of 1st then it still sucks horribly.

If the Cubs weren't such a flop so far, the division would be pretty good...

Yep, someone has to pick up Ankiel's slack.

2nd IBB to Pujols already, teams are finally picking up that no one else can hit worth a damn.

It was bound to happen eventually. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pujols get walked every at bat in the series. It's def. what I'd do.

The game tonight looking pretty damn good though.

worst Pujols has looked in an AB all season? I like the idea of walking him more times then not, given the situation, obv : )

And there's what happens when he doesn't get walked.

Don't worry grear we got Wellemyer pitching tomorrow. Likely won't be the same kind of game.

lol we win again, even with Wellemeyer pitching and Pujols didn't even get a hit.

Yep we looking good lately. Ank, Lud, and Molina all seeing the ball much better. Rasmus making a bid for ROY.

Half of me is glad that the Brewers keep winning too. We stay 1 game back and hopefully management will acknowledge that we still need at least one more peice to the puzzle.

Its a long shot but Franklin for Allstar anybody?

I'd put the chance of pujols leaving at %10 currently, last year it was %1 and before that it was %0.

I can't stand even the thought of that. How many games would this team lose without Pujols? 90? 95? 100?

Oh i'm sure they'd just move Duncan to 1st then bring some random outfielder from memphis up. Then management could talk a lot about having the payroll to look for an impact bat blah blah blah.

I'd say if they skip out on making an impact move this season and we miss the playoffs or get donked out in the first round the odds are gonna go up to %40-%50. Remember that most of his next contract would likely be spent playing for somebody other TLR which I assume is already a negative for Pujols.

The good news is we playing a cold KC team and a sweep is looking likely. We got some tough teams coming up the next couple of weeks. By the time we get done playing the Brew Crew just after the allstar break we should know exactly how good this team really is.

If management F's it up that bad, someone could end up dead. Literally.

Ugh, the thought of Mr. Pujols in another jersey is sickening. I wonder how much money DeWallet would save with Florida Marlins-esque attendance.

Yeah we've been fortunate to dodge KCs stud pitcher all year if I remember correctly. Although I would have been pretty excited to have seen him match up against Carp.

1st place baby!!

I gotta say if we get extremely lucky and K. Greene manages to turn it around at 3rd base this team may be ready to make the run without any further additions. (huge if)

Clutch Yadi nearly back to .300 on a current 18 for 30 streak or something.

Beer me.

If Khalil can be even league average at his position for the rest of the year, that would be a really big lift to this club. I'm really pulling for the guy.

And good lord, we are all lucky that we get to watch Mr. Pujols play baseball. We'll be talking about him in 40 years to our grandchildren.
