I've heard the idea of moving Pujols to third, Duncan to first. Sounds like one of those ideas that's good in a video game.

Yippie a Troy Glaus update finally:

* John Mozeliak just briefed reporters on Troy Glaus' condition. The club had a conference call today that included Mozeliak, the athletic training staff and Keith Kocher, the physical therapist with whom Glaus is working out in Arizona.

Glaus has been cleared to begin a throwing program, with other baseball activities to follow. Mozeliak referred to the call as "encouraging," but also said he doesn't really have any more optimism regarding Glaus than he did last week. The rough timetable for Glaus, as of now, is a return to Major League action sometime between mid-July and the beginning of August, but that's very rough.
--------------------

So..............we still don't have a ****ing clue whats going on. There's a lot to love about the Cardinals organization but they are some stone cold *********** when it comes to injuries. This same ridiculous crap has been going on since Scott Rolen and especially Mark Mulder. Fans are given updates and timetables that are later proven to be so far off basis they could be nothing but completely fabricated lies intended to pacify the fans for a short term. The fact that management tries such cheap tricks shows that they view their fans as morons.

Recall that in spring training there was one update stating that there was a chance that Glaus could be ready to play shortly after opening day. Now we are 8 weeks into the season and are told that Glaus is ready to start throwing a baseball. Last week Mo said that he was pessimistic about Glaus playing this year and we would know more with today's update. Now we get this highly anticipated update and it says basically nothing. Although Mo is now "optimistic" however his feelings actually haven't changed any. I've been lied to by stupid *******s before and it felt very similar to this.

Thats all the ranting these ****s deserve from me, I doubt Glaus has another AB as a Cardinal.

Oh yea we lost to a ****ty team tonight and half of our starting rotation is skipping a start because their vaginas are sore.

You hit the nail on the head. I remember the "Yeah Glaus could be ready to go opening day, but May 1 is more likely" article. This "update" is nothing more than a ploy to enact the plan - We're not going to do anything about 3rd base because Glaus will be back for the stretch. No really, he will.

I agree with you, I doubt Glaus takes a swing this year. It's the classic front office injury stalling tactic we've seen time and time again.

Feels good to get that rant out of my system. I do still like our chances overall. With a healthy Carp and Waino and Pujols we can't be in too bad of shape. Like I said, there's plenty to love about the Cardinals but they certainly need to revamp their medical system in a massive way.

I pray that at some point management is going to drop some dollars on some sort of impact player. They've saved a lot of mistakes by being conservative about some over-hyped players in the past and that has left us in good position to have some money to spend when the right opportunity presents itself. I just hope they can man up and pull the trigger when they need to.

The most important reason behind all of this is that eventually Pujols is going to get tired of missing the playoffs. He has stated repeatedly that playing on a competitive team is his sole consideration for resigning with the team when his contract is up. If they let Pujols get away...well i'll never forgive them.

I think Thurston is serviceable. Not ideal but it's better than trading for Atkins or Derosa, both of which are going to command and a lot more than they are worth. Wallace isn't ready yet, he's batting .264 in AAA. It's nice to think maybe he can pull a Pujols and hit 30 bombs without any AAA experience but that's a pipe dream.

If it was just 3b that was killing us I'd be ok. However, by this time next week everybody is going to be complaining about Ryan.

Last 30 days our offense is dead last in the league in:

Batting Average
OBP
RBIs
Total Bases
Runs
Hits

And thats with Pujols doing his usual thing.

LOL did anyone see that play by Brandon Phillips? I haven't laughed out loud like that while watching sports for a while.

Pujols on 2nd, no out, Ludwick hits a slow grounder to Phillips at 2B, he fields it and scoots over toward second to hold Pujols but then makes this horrible weak throw to first that bounces and hits Ludwick as he is running to first. Hilarious.

First and third, no out, Ankiel whiffs and Molina grounds into an inning ending DP. Standard.

You would think with the MVP and Cy Young winner it wouldn't be too hard to build a team around them.

Mo DFAs Boyer and brings up another rookie. I believe that makes either the 8th or 9th rookie on our team now. Pretty soon Memphis is going to have trouble fielding a full squad with them all playing in the majors. Boyer BTW is probably the only signing Mo has made that actually performed above expectations.

lol, this team sucks. But who am I kidding, no shame in getting beat down by the 2007 National League Champions. See the "biggest aberration in sports history" thread for more info.

I liked this team a lot mroe when they scored runs occasionally.

How bad is it when you KNOW you are going to be shut down by Jason ****ing Marquis?

We are so screwed. Just like 2008 we play way over our heads in April, then crawl to the finish.

I think you are overstating it.

Crawling implies that we have a pulse.

Good to see Ankiel get some hits. No one likes to say it because he went all the way back to rookie league and came back as a hitter, but he has been garbage so far this year. .220/.290/.381 before tonight. Almost killed himself going for that fly ball at the wall too.

What are the odds we add a significant bat before the deadline? There's talk every year and we never pull the trigger...now Holliday's name comes out. Is that just wishful thinking?

My guess: It's the same tired line over and over again.

"We're looking into the possibility of adding a player, but we don't want to do anything that will jeopardize this clubs future blah blah blah"

Yeah I'm almost completely convinced that management has no intention of spending any money as long as people continue to buy tickets to watch a team that is 75% AAA players.

I read the other day that the actual payroll of the players on the field was right around the 60Million mark. That drops right in the bottom 25% of the league.

Starting to wonder if Pujols is going to go into the HOF as a Cardinal or a Yankee.

Oh yeah, Wellemyer blows really really bad.

Woot! I went to yahoo to check what time the game started today, and discovered we already won.

So, a weekday day game in Florida? There must have been, what, 25-26 people in the stands?

I can't believe some of you are quitting on this team already. They're leading the wild card and are 1/2 game out of first.
