Not to mention their average age of 24. The future is bright!

really surprised the team cut michael robinson. he's a special teams beast.

ESPN says Jason Hill is gone too. Robinson is a major surprise. I don't remember if he was involved in some of the blown special teams plays last night. There has to be some back story of a clash between

Looks like Cody Wallace's shenanigans cost him a job as well.

....this just popped up on the Niners site: Singletary wanted "more value" from Robinson: "We just could not fit him in on the offensive side of the ball," he said. "... The bottom line is that we wanted more value."

http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archiv...tary-on-r.html

Robinson seemed to be a Singetary type guy.

i think robinson mainly came down to the team wanting to keep dixon. westbrook is on a one year deal and dixon would probably get signed if they tried to put him on the practice squad. i doubt it was robinson's special teams play. he was a key blocker on the punt return td last week. but he doesn't have any offensive value. i dunno, the 9ers have done a very good job for years now of finding great special teamers so hopefully it won't be too big a deal.

not really surprised about hill (ziegler has looked quite good, they traded a pick for ginn and williams looked good before he got hurt) and wallace getting released isn't surprising at all.

well so much for preseason superstar nate davis. probably a decent move for this year though. carr is pretty bad and i don't know if troy smith is an upgrade but it's worth a gamble for one year one million. and hey, the niners finally have someone to run the taser.

edit: smith, ginn and boone. almost 1/3 of the 05 and 06 ohio st starting offense. weird.

i don't know if you still think it's 2005 or what but smith last year was much better than soon to be 35 year old injury prone hasselbeck has been for the last two seasons and three of the last four.

so you enjoy your dog**** qb all year

lol calling us delusional when your team isn't going anywhere and some reason you got a coach who doesn't seem to know what he's doing at all at the NFL level HC wise.

Your team is old, your OL sucks, your D is mediocre and you cut your "best" WR for a guy who couldn't make detroit's team.

I'm not predicting a NFC title, but if we don't do well in the NFC West this year...not sure when will have a better chance to win the division.

Also, you guys continually pick up the 9er scraps. You know the guys we cut. Get rid of our GM, he is now on your staff. Get rid of a mediocre WR in Brandon Jones and you pick him up. And now you trade for Balmer who is a bum.

Additionally, what can you guys really brag about. 1 SB appearance in your history. Wake us up when you actually win something.

I don't think the 9ers are particularly great this year. But they should make the playoffs since our schedule is a joke and our division is a joke. We have an elite D with a mediocre O. If our OL additions help significantly, in addition to alex smith being a league average QB--we could could make significant waves. I won't bet on Alex but I will bet on the OL and D being pretty damn good. I also expect VD, Crabtree and Gore to do well.
