You can request the name change on the sticky on the top of the forum.

On that note, it's kind of sad that such a surprising team has so few followers on 2p2.

Maybe I can help start some discussion.

What do you guys think of the Adrian Gonzalez situation? You have him on the cheap this year and next year. It was looking like he was going to be traded this year, but obviously with you guys contending that's not going to happen.

He's a local kid who I've heard is interested in staying with the club if they can come to some sort of agreement. Is there any change the Padres open up the wallet for the hometown kid the way the Twins did it with Mauer?

How has attendance been this year during the surprising run?

Do you guys want to see Bell traded for a couple of prospects, giving the closer role to Gregerson (or someone else) who has been lights out?

I was hoping someone else might chime in but I'll bite.

I think Adrian wants to stay and may even play for a hometown discount, but I'm not sure that the hometown discount will be low enough for us to keep him. Hopefully Moorad will open up the check book seeing that the club is doing better and can really succeed with a little help(and spending some money).

Attendance is lower then normal, but then again the weather has been, imo, better then normal. We have been at a constant 73-77 degrees so people are out doing other things. Thats one of the reasons San Diego is so hard to draw fans to the ballpark, we have such great weather and there are a ****ton of other things to do. The other thing that hurts attendance is the city is a destination city for alot. Realistically I would bet that not even half the people who live here are native San Diegans. We have such a large military presence here so we have people from all over the country and they don't go to games regularly, unless their hometown team is playing.

I would be willing to trade Bell if we get the better end of a deal. We could really use a outfield bat, but I can't think of a team that needs a closer that can give up a outfield bat. I think Gregerson would do fine in the closer role(He has 2 saves this year) but at the same time, I like the chemistry of Adams in the 7th, Gregerson in the 8th, and Bell in the 9th. I don't know the statistics off hand but from eyeballing it, if we go into the 7th with a lead, our relief pitchers have been pretty lights out. If Bell were to be traded I think everyone moves up a spot and Ryan Webb will become the new 7th inning guy.

Grats on getting Luddy. He's a solid guy to have on your team. Hope you enjoy him.

Ludwick is our 2nd best hitter AINEC. That's how offensively starved we were. We're pumped to have him!

Nice win by the Pads. Worst case scenario they leave Frisco with a 1' game lead.

Very nice series vs an MLB team. Should have won all 3 but I'm sure they'll be content with 2. Just looked over my post season ticket package ($2,342 for 2 tix to every game) and noticed that they moved the season ticket renewal up to August 27th (for 2011!). It was bad enough when we had to pay in December ffs. Back to post-season, they are offering something called 'cheer now, pay later' where you pay for next years tix and can then buy post-season tix as they become available. That makes a lot more sense to me than shelling out $2,300 for games that might not be played. I'll probably wind up doing that.

Any tickets that are not used(because of games not being played) should roll over to your next years season tickets, at least that's how its been done in the past. I agree that a sweep would have been nice, but as long as we keep winning series, we will be fine.

6 game lead. 7 in the loss column. If the Pads play .500 ball the rest of the way (lets say 19-20 to be pessimistic) than the Giants have to go 24-13 to catch SD. It's looking good for post-season games at Petco. Speaking of which...

I wound up paying for 1/2 of the season tickets for next year with the other half automatically charged against my credit card in January. Doing this and checking a box for 'cheer now, pay later' gives me 2 tickets for every post-season game as they become available (also automatically charged to my card). Pretty good deal IMO. Considering I was going to get the season tickets anyway it was a 'no brainer'.

Full disclosure...I'm actually a Met fan (yeah, I know, NY sucks, whatever) but I've lived in SD for 30+ years and my business has had season tickets since 1986 (except 1995 when I wanted nothing to do with baseball). My wife was born and raised in SD and my kids (2 of them anyway) root for the Pads. So I root for the Pads too (as long as they're not playing the Mets).

Sounds like a good deal Mojo.

Arizona worries me a bit, they swing for the fences and succeed often which doesnt excite me when they are facing Leblanc and Correia who enjoy serving up the dingers.

If we make the playoffs, what worries me is that this rotation is v good for a regular season, they have depth but theyre really not a playoff rotation. They have 5 ok starters but come playoff time you need 3 or at least 2 Becketts/Lee's/Sabathias. Matter of fact I would take any of the contenders' rotation over us when it comes playoff time.

I guess we have to hope for a 6 inning game then I like their chances w Gregerson, Adams, Bell.

Funny the reason I dont go "Greear" on this thread and post after every pitch is because I have to keep the name of the thread alive

Special teams looked like balls. There was a night and day difference with Rivers when it was raining and when it wasn't. There were wayyyy to many slips that cost the team hugh. Outside of the big run, the D looked pretty good. I'm not 100% sold because it's the chiefs, but we should find out next week.

Got my playoff tix in the mail today. I won't be opening that package just yet. Needless to say this is a HUGE game tonight. Latos needs to bring his A game.
