The game was pretty evenly played. Steelers ran well wrt to penalties being called and turnovers (the Minny DL was tipping a ****ton of passes and none were picked). ToP doesn't really tell the story since ToP is always going to be off when you run it back twice.

Max Starks completely contained Jared Allen.

Vikes moved the ball but lots of teams can move the ball on LeBeau. It's getting 7 that takes real skill and the Vikes were stiffed at the goalline a few times.

The D looked like themselves; a little reminiscent of last year's NYG game.

Meh. I feel like every game thread involving the steelers in SE has them being dominated/running good.

This game the Steelers actually ran pretty good in that they actually got calls when fouls occurred.

But I agree the other 90% of the time it's like five hysterical Steelers-haters that set the tone for SE and some sheep follow.

Well, the Vikes guys are pretty vocal in that thread, and they seem convinced that the tripping call was garbage. I wish I had seen the game. I've got to stop this Sunday rehearsal thing.

Since SB XL it has become trendy to hate on the Steelers and accuse them of getting favorable treatment from the refs. The call that started all this nonsense was the Holding call on Sean Locklear against Clark Haggans where John Maddden famously said after the replay "If there was holding on that play, I didn't see it." The flag was correct, but the replay angle blocked any view of the foul which lead many to assume it was a phantom call. Things have snowballed since, and have been exacerbated by irrational Ben haters who refuse to acknowledge him as one of the games better QBs. In fact just last season there was a thread about Cutler where the consensus in SE was that Cutler was a much better QB than Ben. Whatever, we'll just keep lifting Lombardys. Here is a link to a video of the play

not to mention, the vikes turned it over 2x for scores on both plays if i remember correctly, so they didnt deserve to win the game anyways!!!

Clark said on local radio that he plans on making the trip to Denver. Really hope he changes his mind on that...

If you give the Vikings the TD there instead of it coming back on the call, the Vikings go up 17-13 since the play where Favre is stripped never occurs. The Steelers would then have to move the ball down the field for a TD, having only managed to do so right before the half. This is obviously not impossible but the game likely at that point favors the Vikings by at least 60-70%.

We got away with one folks.

I saw the tripping play a few times on NFLN and I don't get the complaints over it. I mean, he tripped him - or leg whipped him - whatever you want to call it. It's a penalty. The analysts there had no issue with it either.

And what about the TD taken from PIT on the Miller interference play in the first quarter?

Looked like a pick play to me, though I don't know the specific rules about contact when the defender is engaged with another player. Wait, nobody knows. Finding a rulebook online is impossible.

I hate that penalty. The enforcement of the pick play is a total coinfip. Call it every time or don't call it (even though the PS seem to run the pick more often than they get burned by it these days).

I really don't see how the tripping penalty is anything other, in intent and execution, than a leg whip (which I believe is a 15 yarder). Either he intentionally missed Harrison or he didn't - but he still first impeded his progress and made first contact with his legs. Not allowed.

It feels like half a season ago since the Vikings game. I'm pretty pumped about the game tonight, but equally worried since the Denver D and Mile High advantage could put a damper on the start of 2nd half of the season. I want the Bengals coming in to the Burgh with 1st place on the line.

Matt Millen says he would have let Ryan Clark play in Tomlin's position - it's official - Clark would have died.

I got a real bad feeling about tonight's game. I know the Steelers just had a bye, but this is a Steelers team that lost on the road to Chicago and Cincy and couldn't cover against the Lions. I don't know what's up with Timmons and Kirschke, but I've seen they're doubtful, and the loss of Ryan Clark is bigger than a lot of people think; now Tyrone Carter's going to see a lot of snaps, and I'm not a big fan of his. That means less D men to shuffle in and out in that thin air with all these injuries........ it could be a long night for the black and gold.

I think even with the first half you have to call that their best game of the year. Hopefully Willie Colon is ok, I didn't hear any updates on him after the Mendenhall almost-fumble play.

<3 Hines catching two (That leap over Champ could become the new Bettis running over Urlacher for nostalgia purposes) and Rashard getting 155. Here we go, Steelers.

The season is no fun without Phillip Rivers in the running.

Big time win. Mendy is coming into his own. The D was fantastic giving up yards, but no points. Big Ben was on time when needed, although he keeps throwing bad picks. Next week should be a doozy, if we beat Cincy we're in the drivers seat headed towards the playoffs.

We'll never know. Too bad the Steelers weren't practicing in Reno, Belichick coulda gotten the whole thing on tape.

Tonight's 49ers-Bears game reminds me that this offseason most posters in the Cutler thread were thoroughly convinced that Jay is a better QB than Ben. Some were saying that it wasn't even close.

One of the funniest Cowher moments.

The game isn't going to be broadcasted in New England tomorrow, so I'm taking my father (responsible for saving me from Patriots fanhood,) to a Steelers bar in Allston, MA. Here we go!

Yeah, pumped for this one. A little sad I don't get to watch it with my son in DC, but the Amphora Lounge @ the Borg is a great place to watch football. Eagles don't play until 4pm, so there will be plenty of chairs for the early games. We need to get Mendy untracked early, as passing will be tough. Look for Mendy and Wallace to have big days catching the ball. Last time we played them (w/o Troy) we shut them down completely until the 4th Q. Hopefully we can play a complete game and close them out on Offense by banging the rock in the run game.
