Five-pack of beer would be nice. I doubt they can get the full six.

Lets say Kendrick gets the 5th starter spot (most likely will happen). What happens to Happ, Park and Carrasco?

I'm guessing Happ to the pen until Romero comes back, Carrasco back to AAA. What about Park though? Can the Phillies send him down to the minors? Can they release him without paying him? Do they need another righty middle reliever in the pen?

Park was a reliever last year, no reason he can't do that again.

Depressingly I think you're right in that they'll use Happ as a lefty reliever. Makes me want to vomit.

I think they have to use Happ has a lefty reliever early in the season. I'd rather do that and use Kendrick/Carrasco than float 50 games with Eyre as our lefty reliever.

Anyone see the Jimmy Rollins Dick's commercial. Pretty LOL.

Anyway. A few questions:
Will Jimmy and Chase be able to stay healthy for most of the season?
Will Ryan Howard figure out how not to strike out? Can he get off to a better start than the last 2 years?
Will Ibanez be a more than adequate replacement for Pat the Bat?
If all the answers to these questions are "yes," are the Phillies the favorite in the NL?

No reason why Jimmy wouldn't, assuming he has made it back to 100%. He doesn't have much injury history.

Chase, who knows.

Very doubtful / doubtful.

He'll be adequate.

Bigger questions, imo, are whether we get Good Brett / Bad Brett and whether Moyer can keep it up. If the answers to those questions are yes, then the Phillies are either favorites, or atleast right near the top.

Yea I agree, it was hilarious. Not nearly as funny as Chase's Vaseline commercial, that one is borderline gay and he knows it haha, who cares he is still the man.

Surprisingly over confident this year. Anyone have an insight on how Donald has been working out at 3rd?

I personally had planned to tie him under a steamroller, but luckily the Phillies decided to save me a prison sentence.

+1

I agree completely, I am also interested in the production from the 5th starter. Whoever ends up winning that spot could be quite productive because there is so much competition for it right now.

Living in Baltimore, I am highly entertained that the Os picked up Eaton.

I just hope he manages to make their roster. I lived in Minnesota for a while, and all winter long it can be amusing to take a peek and see what the high and low temperature is, just knowing it is no skin off my back. It could be the same thing with Eaton's line every five days this summer.

Was planning on waiting until the day before Opening Day to watch the Phillies World Series Blu-Ray...But I just couldn't do it.

Tears in my eyes...I hope this year is even half as fun as last year.

Also, just read the first couple of posts in this thread, talking about the Mets as our main competition....Then somebody says "don't sleep on the Braves"

Jesus, don't sleep on the Marlins. That team is downright scary. I say the Braves finish 4th in the division for sure, and it's a battle between the Phils and the Fins for the division.

Boc, did you at least remember what happened? I was watching a replay on the screen at Borgata and I couldn't for the life of me remember what happened after Jenkins doubled (I remember he scored, ldo). I so mad when Rollins sacrificed on the replay, lol

Werth singled after Rollins sacrificed.

neither are pushovers, but the braves are significantly better than the marlins, with the phils and mets a touch above

Well I guess Kendrick won't be winning the 5th starter spot.

On the offense Donald is lighting it up. .379/.486/.448 (29 ABs lol). Its actually very curious given his history. His numbers at A-/A were not that great. Then last year he had a breakout year at AA. This leads to a pretty bad pecota projection. However given what he did in the fall and spring his improvement may be real and not a fluke (or rather is more likely to be real). Then again Bruntlett is lighting it up as well, so don't read too much into it

Anyone interested in a 2+2 gathering at a phillies/mets game?

Did you see Donald diving head first into home on Ibanez's base hit? I love the hustle and grit this guy bring to the table.
