Mickey Moniak? Didn't see that one coming. Thought it was locked between the kid from Jersey or the flame thrower from the university of Florida?

I won't complain about taking the kid with the highest upside. But, he is 5 years away from being a star or being out of baseball.

So they showed the replay of the dugout reacting to Franco's 9th inning bomb off of paps (twice). You can clearly see Asche barking "**** you, **** you *******" at paps as Franco is rounding the bases.

Man this one hurts. Celebrity/athlete deaths don't usually upset me but this really does. Loved Roy and have some great memories of his time with the Phillies. Everything I've heard about him made him out to be an amazing person off the field too. Really sad

It's amazing the impact he made in four years here. Speaks to the quality of the player and the man.

When he played for Toronto, he was the reason why I originally ordered the MLB package. Absolutely sucks... Thankful to have been at the no-hitter vs the Reds in the playoffs.

Carlos Stanton to the Phils. I like the move. Now all we need is machado and some pitching. #dreaming

I'm ok with Santana. They are bringing in a veteran who hits the way they want the younger guys to hit.

That said, I'm afraid they are pressing too much. They have a ton of good arms in the minors that are 2 years away. Let the young position players figure out big league pitching and then make a run in 2 years. Trying to get something this year is not necessary. Let these guys grow. They will be fun to watch this year as long as they don't end up with veterans blocking the young guys.

Also in 2 years Trout is FA. That's some #dreaming

Kind of an odd feeling to be in July and not counting down the days until the Eagles open training camp.

This team has a super soft schedule in July, so they should be playing meaningful baseball into August at least.

It's kind of surprising since the team doesn't seem to do anything all that well. But I guess Washington being inexplicably mediocre and the Mets/Marlins being terrible has benefited them a ton.

Adding Machado seems like a no-brainer at this point.

Team has no-doubt benefited from some run-good, but I think the starting pitching is a legitimate strength.

Yeah, the pitching has been a huge surprise. Nola, Eflin, Pivetta and Vasquez have all been significantly better this year. I am not baseball savvy enough to know if its normal for young guys to make a big jump like that, if it's coaching or if the team has just been lucky. But whatever, I'll take it.

The team does seem really high on Elfin, as there are reports they refused to trade him for Machado. So hopefully he's the real deal.

2.5 game lead in the division. Seven home runs last night. I feel like I am living in a surreal universe.

It will be interesting to see what they do trade wise over the next few days. They clearly could use some better bench players. Hard to believe that I am actually excited about the prospect of Pedro Floriman rejoining the team.

Another starting pitcher would be nice. That way, you can move Pivetta to the pen and upgrade both areas. A super utility bat would be a nice addition as well.
