I've been in NY the past few days so I'm not sure when the snow actually ended in Philly, but original forecasts were calling for snow until at least the early morning, and at 3am last night it was still coming down sideways in NYC. That would have given them less than 24 hours to get it all removed, not to mention it would probably take longer than that to get the roads in good enough shape for the fans/players to be able to show up. You're probably right that it would have been fine, but Tuesday seems like less of a stretch than Monday.

"This is in no way, shape, or form a blizzard."
If the snow in Downtown Philadelphia was even half of what it was in Midtown Manhattan, all I have to say is wat.
Also, how would you feel if you were a fan who paid a bunch of money to go to this game and all of a sudden couldn't because you were snowed in? Not to mention that some of the players most likely live in some of the areas where the snow bands were the heaviest.
