Vick activated, Baskett released. I liked the guy, think he would have been kept over brown w/o the financial concerns of waiving Brown.

Yea really, mentally the guy just is not there.

I am very nervous about this game this weekend, hoping KK can show us something.

Do you think Kendra is going to divorce him now?

I've heard from other people that has had the same back problems as him say they've never been the same. Even though there's no structural damage, it could be a pain issue that's just too much for him to play through. It's really disappointing either way though. He's a hell of a player.

I wouldn't cut him. This gives him almost a year (yeah, another one) to get right. There's no real downside to holding on to him, and in the unlikely event that he returns to form at some point there's obviously a huge upside.

As you said in the NFC East thread, I'd expect them to ultimately go with Herremans at RT and keep Cole at LG. I'm also okay with Justice at RT and Herremans back at guard. Either way I don't see a need to sign Runyan. It's definitely a possibility but I just don't see it happening. I doubt he's as good as Justice right now. We have enough good, versatile players on the offensive line to make up for the lack of Andrews.

One thing that the whole o-line did well in the Panthers game, especially Justice, is pulling quickly in general, and getting out on screens. Peters/Justice are about 1000x as mobile as Tra/Runyan. Cole did a great job of this as well. The line as a whole suits Westbrook much better - he should be able to effectively run off tackle this year.

If they cut Brown, they don't have to pay him anything. But the issue is the cap, not actual money to Brown.

A player's cap total is his salary + a prorated portion of his signing bonus.

If you cut a player before his contract is up, the leftover prorated portions of his signing bonus count against your cap the following year.

You can't for the same reason you can't cut Brown.

Things noticed this week watching shortcuts...

Falcons: Mike Peterson had a monster game. Miami had two relevant drives in the first three quarters, and Peterson stopped both of them with a forced fumble at Atlanta's 16 and an interception around Atlanta's 40. The pick led to Gonzalez's touchdown that basically put the game away. Peterson played for Mike Smith (then the defensive coordinator) in Jacksonville.

They're using Jerious Norwood more as a receiver, and he's beastly.

Cowboys: On their first drive, facing 2nd and 19 from the Tampa 35, Romo lines up in shotgun with Marion Barber to his left. Romo takes the snap, does a 360 to his left and immediately takes off running. Not a designed rollout to pass; Romo tucks the ball away and runs at full speed. Barber stands in the backfield doing nothing, sees Romo running (you can literally see his head turn towards Romo), yet makes no attempt to run with Romo downfield to block. No offensive lineman pull to block. All three recievers are running routes downfield, not blocking. What the **** was that play? He got gang tackled for a gain of about 1/2 yard, btw.

Saints: Two bad things from this week.
1) Awful kick and punt coverage
2) Terrible defense on misdirection runs.

Almost every successful Detroit run was some sort of counter. I think we'll see a lot of misdirection in the running game this week, including standard counters and cutbacks with Westbrook, an end-around with Jackson, and some misdirection wildcat stuff with Jackson + Westbrook.

Lions: Stafford was a joke. Missing wide open receivers all day, by a lot. JaMarcus Russell is more accurate. FO was joking that his playbook only has one receiver with one route for each play, because he doesn't seem to go through progressions at all. Defense still blows, their D-Line just got obliterated on power runs.

I saw this too and I guess Barber was supposed to take a handoff but wasn't in the right place. It was weird.

Watched the game again up to the injury. Man, what an ass kicking. Saw some nice things out of Gocong; never been a fan of him, but maybe he's finally coming around. Also saw a couple nice plays by Trevor Laws, good to see him getting in there and producing.

I know Peters had 11 false starts, but the guy is really mobile and good in space. I foresee some monster gains on screens to the left behind Peters and Cole/Jackson/Herremans this year.

I don't think the Andrews thing is that big of a deal, but I wasn't expecting him to play much if at all this year anyway (just a hunch). What a waste of talent. We will probably never know, but I'm really curious what's actually happened to him.

Nice Rockstar, what row though? Lower upper deck is fine, but you start getting up there and it's a long ways away.

My buddy found 2 tix for the Chiefs, 12th row lower level, 15 yard line, $160/per. Pretty excited, I went to two road games last year (SF, NFCCG) but haven't been to a home game since the 2006 playoffs vs the Giants.

12th row. Hey, I'm in the stadium, it'll be a blast.

(Beat: 23rd row upper level for the Saints game which I also bought, for more money, in a corner of the stadium. blech)

Usually hard to find cheap seats getting 'scalped' at Eagles games in my experience. You might get a good price on a seat but it will be a good seat that isn't cheap.

Did you just move to Philly? No, you will not find tickets available at the box office.

Just go with an online retailer or try Craigslist or your original plan of purchasing from someone selling theirs at the stadium.

Only been to 2 NFL games in my life, both Eagle vs Cowboys at Lincoln and only bc my aunt was good friends with Parcells and she brought me knowing I was a big eagle fan. From NJ tho, and my gf just started goin to St. Joe's so I figure I'll go sat night and when I wake up sunday I'll head to the stadium and start boozing/tailgating. Also never tailgated before a game and thats what it's all about so I don't even care if I end up watching the game outside..just gota stay sober enough to drive home an hour after celebrating the W with all the drunk tailgaters

I forgot how insanely hot Garcia's wife is.

Also, I'm having a hard time not posting "44-3" every time someone entertains the notion that Dallas > Philly in the NFC East thread.
