I just had a little 12 text message spat regarding Taylor Mays...it was pretty funny. It included comments such as "Id rather dress like a woman for a month then draft Taylor Mays" and responses like "well you better go down to Girard Ave and your weave didded bc Taylor Mays is comin!".

See now thats something I can get on board with.

I think Chris Cook is pretty intriguing to.

One player who fits the mold is Virginia’s Chris Cook. At 6′2″ 215 pounds, he is a rare combination of size and speed with great agility and leaping ability. He also has experience at safety and could be utilized in the slot, which is something Sheldon Brown was often asked to do.

Edit: Oh, and post draft this thread needs a flashy new title.

I dont know how it could ever live up to the Phils thread title but we should at least try.

I've said this before, but I'd really like Dwyer in the 3rd. I think he will be the second best running back out of this draft class. I'm just not sure he has the hands for the Eagles to take him. We do have enough ammunition to move back up into the 3rd round, though.

I wouldn't mind Mays so much, but not at 37. Kind of like how I didn't want DeSean in the 1st round that year (boy was I wrong), but there comes a time when the athleticism is almost too much to pass up on. It's funny because the guy really just can't play safety, but man is he an athletic freak. If we could get him at 55, I think it's worth the gamble.

Nate Allen would be a good pick. I think Cook would be too.

2010 Eagles Roster & Depth Chart
(Years In NFL / Years With Eagles)

OFFENSE
QB (2/3): Kolb (4), Vick (8/2)
RB (3): McCoy (2), Buckley (2), Bell (5/1)
FB (1): Weaver (6/2)
WR (4/5): Jackson (3), Maclin (2), Avant (5), Baskett (5)
OL (11/10): Peters (7/2), Herremans (6), Jackson (8), Cole (5), Justice (5), Jean-G (5), Dunlap (3), McGlynn (3), Andrews (7/2), Reynolds (2), Tupou (2)
TE (3): Celek (4), Ingram (2), Rucker (3/2)

DEFENSE
DE (5): Cole (6), Parker (10/6), Graham (R), Tapp (5/1), Abiamiri (4)
DT (4): Patterson (6), Bunkley (5), Laws (3), Dixon (2)
LB (7): Bradley (4), Simms (5/1), Hall (3/1), Fokou (2), Jordan (4), Gaither (5), Mays (3)
CB (5): Samuel (8/3), Hanson (6/5), Hobbs (6/2), Patterson (5/2), Pope (4/2)
S (5/4): Mikell (8), Allen (R), Harris (2), Demps (3), Jackson (6/1)

SPECIAL TEAMS
K: Akers (13/12)
P: Rocca (4)
LS: Dorenbos (8/5)

-----------

Based on the roster that Reid usually keeps, we need to add a WR and a QB, and drop an OL and a safety. And we still have six more picks.

It's going to be tough for Demps to make the team. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep only nine OL this year to make a little room elsewhere. Figure to add a WR at some point later in the draft. QB could come from anywhere, probably a scrub free agent over a draft pick.

What about linebacker? A pick there would probably mean the end of either Gaither or Mays.

And center is a question mark with Jackson's injury.

Moved down four spots in the 2nd round and picked up an extra 4th round pick.

We now have three picks in the 4th. I'd expect us to package some of those and get back into the 3rd round if possible.

3rd and two 5ths.

Eagles have 8 picks tomorrow now. We have to package some of those for another 3rd. Just too many picks to have.

I would love to see them package a 3rd and 5th for a 2011 2nd. Something in that area would be a good move.

The Patriots got a 2011 2nd straight up for a 3rd. Too late now. I imagine they will trade some 4ths for like a 3rd next year or something. I can't imagine them taking 9 more players in this draft.

I also didn't like the Daniel Te'o-Nesheim pick. Traded all the way down to get a guy that "is limited athletically and does not show great lateral movement," and he is undersized as a DE. Don't we need a CB?

Couple of scouting reports I read about the washington end said he was more of a 3-4 rush linebacker. Even if he is decent wtf we doing with all these ends now?? We have 6 currently on the roster.

FO's SACKSEER article rates Te'o-Nesheim as the top sleeper of the draft, so that's nice.

good news is, if our DB's (which are already limited) can cover for 7-10 seconds, our undersized "high motor" DE's will be getting a ton of coverage sacks......awesome.

Aaron Schatz did mention on the Bill Simmons podcast that the Eagles are one of the teams that are using A LOT of advanced statistics, so... maybe there's a connection there. Who knows.

I'm really curious wtf we're doing with all these DE. Maybe they think Abiamiri is just a bust?

Maybe they really are doing a transition year, and they're just going to jettison everyone on the roster over like 27 years old and just keep all these picks and get a ton of young guys?
