Second Quarter Thoughts

I really like how Andy has adapted new stuff for his new personnel, but still uses his old tricks with his old personnel. He is digging the bunch formations with multiple WR (a Jon Gruden favorite) and using designed TE screens for Celek... and then he dusts off the 'ol shovel to Westbrook.

The TE screen that failed on third down (offsides gave us a first anyway) was a cool play, but it ended up too far behind the LOS. If Celek catches that at the LOS it's first down, but he caught it five yards in the backfield.

Abiamiri is having a monster game. Also - Patterson and Nick Cole.

Just great pressure all around. I really like what McDermott is doing. Up the middle blitzes, overload off tackle blitzes, safety blitzes. JJ taught him well. Panthers have no clue how to stop the "joker" blitzer that JJ used to use with Freak. There was one blitz on that last drive that got picked up and turned into an easy 20 yard catch over the middle, but whatever that happens. Don't get gun shy keep bringing people.

I want to see a lot of Shady in the 2nd half. Grind the clock and save Westbrook.

We just went five wide empty backfield shotgun. Andy Reid needs new pants.

Looks like broken ribs. He's a warrior he'll play through it. Early bye week is money.

I like what Reid is doing. Put Westbrook on the bench the rest of the game and pound Shady, give Buckley and Weaver a couple carries too.

Yeah I don't know whether to post here or in the Early Game thread, and i really hate those threads with all the games going on at once so I just abstained.

It's going to suck to have to face Drew Brees next week if we have to trot out Kolb. That'll be an awesome test for our defense seeing how we've played this week and how he's played this week, that'll be a hyped game next week if we have a competitive offense. Even if we don't, the D might still keep us in it.

Uhhhhhh 2-4 weeks for Donny. Saints,Chiefs, then the BYE week(thank god for the early bye this year). Chiefs looked frisky today against the Ravens.

Kolb should be able to hold the fort down for a couple. Lewin Projection System one time!!!

Great game today. Really pleased with everything except for the McNabb injury. Hopefully the ribs are just bruised and he won't miss any time.

Bleh I guess they're cracked. Damn it.

I've said it for years, but there is no QB that takes more unflagged late hits than McNabb. I hate Carolina so much - late hit reminded me of the NFC Champ. game. *********** - I hope they lose every game.

Also, bring back Garcia until mcnabb is ready to go again - Kolb sucks a fat dick.

I wouldn't be surprised if we signed Feeley at least for next week.

It looked like the injury definitely occurred on the late hit. McNabb was on the ground and didn't look hurt, and then a Carolina player dove right on top of him, and you immediately seem him writhe in pain. Ugh.

What late hit? I thought he got hurt going into the end zone on a legal hit?

Looks to me like the injury came on the hit after he was already going to the turf across the plane of the end zone.

To me, it looked like he dove in the end zone for the TD and then some dlineman dove on him.

It may not have been penalty-late, but the hit comes about a second after he goes down to the ground in the endzone.

The hit is just after the 1:55 mark.

I missed this glorious football game for some stupid fall league baseball game. 2:30 game on a sunday, who the **** came up with that idea?

anyway, going to watch some highlights soon. I see mcnabb is hurt, but I think Kolb is competent + the early bye week is clutch, so I'm not too worried.

overall very happy. I don't think mcnabb will be out long, if at all, with the rib thing. He's played through it before. Westbrook looks good. Also, I'm drunk. Thank you NFL ticket. Will be there for the Saints.

One thing I always love about the media/talk radio is the over reaction to us looking terrible in the preseason every year since its obvious we dont show ANYTHING on both sides of the ball, especially on defense. McDermott was throwing stuff at Carolina today that you could tell they had no idea was coming and didn't prepare for.

late hit on McNabb injury play was eerily reminiscent of the NFC Championship Game injury vs the Panthers. So gross.


Nice game though. McCoy is baby Westbrook. DeSean is gonna bust out this season. Defense sure did a good job creating turnovers, though some of that was definitely the Delhomme Effect.


Watched the game from the sportsbook at Planet Hollywood LV. Was funny, when McNabb started writheing, immediately a chant started among the crowd of "VICK, VICK, VICK, VICK".

The eagles have the PERFECT D to counter what the saints do, Mcnabb should sit the week and Kolb should play. saints cant rush the pass.
