Duracell you're 100% right, it's extremely difficult for a team to have four solid corners, definitely easier said than done. They're not cheap if they're good, and they can get kind of diva on you (case in point: Samuel/Brown today). My point was more saying that every team essentially always has a need at corner.

With receivers you can get away with project-type players at #4 on the depth chart pretty easily, and you can use them for situational stuff and all that. Even if they suck they still occupy a defender, and the offense can go to another option or whatever. But the #4 corner is one injury away from a lot of playing time and can expect to get targeted like nobody's business. Then a lot of the time you wind up bringing up a safety or dropping a pass-rushing end into coverage and really everything turns to suck. That 4th guy needs to understand coverages and the zone schemes and all that well.

So, even if the Eagles were to get AwesomeO (or draft a CB high), keeping Asante is LDO, along with Brown and Hobbs as well (I don't see anything wrong with a Hobbs type at #4). Brown can bitch all he likes but the Eagles made a good decision extending his contract and should be able to reap the benefits of it now. I hope Philly doesn't budge.

Should I start wearing my Kevin Kolb jersey now?

Even if we don't move either of the corners (which I hope we don't), and assuming we don't get Nnamdi, I think there's a very good chance we take a corner in the first round. Both Brown and Asante are getting up there in years, Hobbs is on a one year contract, and Joselio didn't exactly meet expectations last year. I don't know though; there's a lot of directions we could go in (and it obviously depends on what picks we end up having).

Regarding McNabb, I really don't want to see him go for anything less than the #33. (I don't want him to go at all, but if we get good value for him I think the move makes sense.) I wouldn't be happy just getting #39 from Oakland. We'll see what happens.

Gocong has signed his tender, and apparently he may be on the move to Cleveland.

What the hell? A pro-bowl corner for a case of beer? This better be part of the master plan to get Nnamdi.

Literally, I click ESPN saying outloud "don't be Sheldon just be Gocong, just be Gocong, just be Gocong, just be Go-- ****."

I've known this for some time, but the roster changes this offseason just emphasize the point: The Eagles are the Logan's Run of the NFL.

Had a feeling Brown was going to be moved seems like he has had problems with his contract since he signed it, and the eagles aren't going to buckle in a contract dispute. Ahh well, there were good memories Sheldon, Gocong....not so much.

I guess a 4+5=3, but I'd much rather have a 3rd than a 4+5. In fact, Sheldon for a 3rd would have been ok I guess. We'll see how the eagles use the picks to move around in the draft.

Brown's hit on Reggie bush is still one of my fav plays of all time - at that moment I was so confident they were going to win that game.

Gocong is a throw away imo, I just see it as Sheldon for the 2 picks. Its realy not all that bad but yea were gonna need to draft a handful of CBs.

They are stock piling picks which cant be bad...trading up???

Weird trade, I don't get it. After the season Brown had, I can't believe that's all we could get for him. Hanson was not near as effective after his suspension, so I'm not even crazy about him being the nickel, much less a "true" starter. Hobbs did not seem to be good enough that you'd want him starting at corner. If we don't get Nnamdi or someone similar, we've gotta get a corner in round 1 who can start his first year.

Can't say I know anything about Alex Hall. Would be surprised if he's better than Witherspoon, who we let go.

The more I think about it, the more it seems like Reid et al are just viewing 2010 as a rebuilding/transition year on both O and D, and aiming to be competitive again in 2011 and on. Looking to dump everyone who they don't think will be of high caliber a couple years down the road from now.

definitely an odd trade, but I'm not crushed by it.

I heard that besides Akers and Rocca and Parker and McNabb, the whole team is under 30 years old at this point.

I'm really excited, on the one hand so many players that I've grown up with/watched play for so long are leaving and it's a little sad, but I feel ridiculously confident about the young core we have, and I think Reid, Banner and company do too. On the one hand some players on the team may take it as a slap in the face, i.e. we don't think we're good enough to win now as is, but the younger/newer guys on the team have to feel like the organization thinks they can be competitive with them, so to speak, leading the attack.

McNabb trade will come next I guess. They can't think Kolb will make them a Super Bowl contender in his first year as a starter so they just dumped everything they could whether it was old guys or overpaid guys this offseason. Its obvious now they are rebuilding for this young core and want to stockpile as many picks as possible in what everyone says is the deepest draft in like 10 years.

Assuming that McNabb goes, its crazy when you look back on his career and how the pieces just never came together around him, with the exception of 2004. McNabb should have been paired w/ an elite WR for his whole career, but it just never happened. Freddy Mitchell was such a costly bust, especially considering the WR's taken behind him.

Wish Mitchell could have been converted to a fourth down specialist. Always need more of those.

Except they don't really exist. Most rookie corners are a disaster.

Yeah, I was thinking exactly that but didn't type it out. Guys like Mike Rumph came to mind right away.
