How is this thread so dead???

Vick got a lot of snaps in the first quarter, if you ask me it disrupted the flow of the offense a bit. But I think it was mostly for show, dont get me wrong they will run those plays with Vick and Mc on the field, but its not going to happen 6-8 times in one quarter like it did in this game.

BTW, I love Jason Avant, teams are always going to over look him and I think he will have a solid season.

You can tell they were just ****ing around with Vick. He basically just ran shovel passes to McCoy and threw one decent pass to Celek I think.

Jason Peters looks terrible

I didn't watch a lot of this, but two questions right before the half

a) Wasn't that pass interference, a push off in the end zone, that disrupted that pass?
Eh, it's the preseason...

b)... but WHAT THE F*** is Goofball Red DOING, kicking a freakin' FIELD GOAL on 4th and short in a PRESEASON GAME, down by 14?

Are you KIDDING me? I can see I'll be screaming at the television a lot this year... AGAIN.

I only saw the first half of the game again. I thought he looked just fine. Also today I read on the EMB that GE99 thought he had a pretty good game... that's good enough for me.

LOL at ******s (not itt obv) saying "oh they should've used Vick more in trick plays and wildcat-type stuff." Like the Eagles are going to start trotting out their entire arsenal of "Vick plays" in a) his first football game played against real opponents in 2 years and b) in the 3rd preseason game of the year. Then ESPN lets these ******s' comments be seen on shows like SportsNation.

I didn't think Peters looked bad at all. They ran a lot of blitzes to his side, but to me, it looked like he picked up the right guy. There were some delayed blitzes to his side that got through, but it was the outside guy, and to me it looked like McCoy's assignment that was missed, if anything at all.

I've watched the game twice now, second time through paying close attention to Harvey on defense as I hope he can breakthrough this season. FWIW, Peters played fine. He was by no means dominant but he also wasn't bad. Against what is a below average RDE he should have been more dominant but I don't think thats something to worry about.

The concern would be 11.5 sacks last season in 13 games. Historically QBs that have mobility have higher sack%. I'd say for Peters to have a pro bowl year you will have to look for no more than 4 sacks given up this year(which he has only done once and that was in his only year he started 16 games). I've never considering Peters an elite LT and that $25 million guaranteed was a little much. With that said, he should be serviceable enough as a pass blocker and his rush blocking should help them more than what they got out of the position last year.

Edit: That came off much more negative than I wanted it to be. More or less just saying I wouldn't expect all-pro season from Peters but he should not cost the Eagles and games and will have much more good than bad this season.

I looked at all of the sacks credited to Peters last year, and I don't think more than ~7 of were his fault. That's still not a great year, but it's not as bad as most people make it out to be. Most of them looked like he should have gotten help from the LG and didn't, or it was entirely the fault of the LG. I'm not too worried about Peters once he gets fully healthy and in sync.

... and you don't have to take out a home equity loan in order to afford tickets and drinks.

Plus, I REFUSE to EVER consider paying a PSL.

There are plenty of seats you dont need a psl for at the Linc...I have had a seat for 5 years and did not purchase a license, granted we are in the 200 section but honestly those seats are actually good, youve got a great view and can see the whole play develop. Plus its only $700 for the season and that really isnt much at all.

Im actually not worried about Peters I fel that it looked like he improved over the last game obv. Im more worried about missing Herremans then the play of Peters at this point (I cant believe I even just said that).

It appears Omar Gaither has moved ahead of Joe Mays as the No. 1 middle linebacker. Nothing is official, but Gaither worked with the starters today and hinted that he'll be the starter on opening day.
~CBS Sportsline

I cant say I am suprised, I was not too impressed by what Mays did in the few preseason games I saw him play. At least Gaither has played the position at this level for an extended period of time, so we kind of know what he can bring to the table.

Stub hub is a rip off, the ticket prices are jacked up in price. Here is a decent place to look, Im not sure if the prices are better then stubhub or not but there are a bunch available...

Possible trade rumor w/ the Pats right now, Feeley for Alex Smith or Ben Watson. I really hope this gets put together. Either one of these guys would be the best backup TE the team has had since 2004 w/ LJ/Chad.

We definitely need another TE. Schobel isn't an NFL caliber player and the guys they have brought in for the preseason are scrubs.

Rumor is that Vick is getting 2 games. That would have him back for the Chiefs week 3 and then they have the bye week.

There are about 1 million good sports bars in the city, how far are you looking to travel? What is your mode of transportation, Driving, walking from St Joe, Public Trans?

There is always the obvious one, Chickies (too crowded cant get a table tho).

But an underatted sports bar is Buffalo Billiards in Old City, I know I know Old City sucks but honestly this is a great spot to watch a game. Good beer good food (quesadillas) and tons of TVs, not to mention they will have the sound from the TVs on during the game.

Cavanaughs in University City is good, they will have all the games on.

Fox and the hound is a great spot in CC its just tough to get to if you have a car, similar to a Chickies type place.

There are tons more, take your pick...

There it is, Im not suprised at all actually. This makes you think the Eagles knew that Vick would be eligible by week 3-4 before they singed him.

Final 53, rough guess:

QB(3): McNabb, Kolb, Vick
RB(4): Westy, McCoy, Buckley, Weaver
WR(6): Jackson, Curtis, Avant, Baskett, Gibson, Maclin (Brown traded or cut, methinks)
TE(2): Celek, Curtis (maybe go 3 here w/ someone not on roster, drop to 9 on OL)
OL(10): Peters, Herremans, Jackson, Andrews, Andrews, Cole, Jean-Gilles, McGlynn, Justice, Dunlap

DE(6): Cole, Abiamiri, Howard, Clemons, Babin, Parker
DT(4): Bunkley, Patterson, Laws, Klecko
LB(5? 6?): Jordan, Gaither, Gocong, Mays?, Fokou?, ??? Don't know what the backups will look like - they were a disaster this PS, for the most part. Like to see someone brought in here.
CB(5): Samuel, Brown, Hanson, Hobbs, ??? - Dont like either Patterson or Ikegwonu. Unsure what they're going to do here.
S (4): Demps, Mikell, Jones, Harris

LS (1): Dorenbos
P (1): Rocca
K (1): Akers
