Reid/McNabb won a hell of a lot of games for us and Philly was absolutely sick of not being able to get over the hump.
I don't know where you people live but I'm telling you from a person who actually lives in Philadelphia (unlike the last 3 people who've chimed in on the subject) winning a championship is the only goal. If we had Joe Flacco's or Eli's career play out right here (playoffs and winning a Superbowl and then considered "mediocre") I'd die happy, and so would the rest of this city.
1. So, this whole thing where you are calling people out for not living in Philadelphia is ridiculous. I live a half hour from the city, and I live, eat and breathe Philly sports. I've been hooked on the Eagles since I was probably 5 or 6 years old when me and the old man use to go to the bowling alley every Sunday and eat pizza and watch the game. I was there freezing my ass off when they beat the Falcons in the NFC championship game. I was there when The Phillies clinched their first division title in many years celebrating with Jimmy when he brought champagne back out of the locker room back onto the field to celebrate with the fans. I have watched more eagles, Phillies, and Sixers games in the last 25 years than probably 90% of the people who actually live in Philadelphia. So, get out of here with that nonsense.
2. I know a decent amount of people who live in the city, and from knowing those people I can tell you not everyone shares your point of view. Sure, everyone is craving a super bowl more than anything, but there are a lot of people from Philly who are much more about enjoying the ride than you are. Many people cherish those Eagles teams from the mid 2000's and appreciate what Reid and Donovan and Dawkins did for us.Crave a super bowl more than anything? Damn right. Super bowl or bust? nah, not everyone feels that way.
3. You are making a terrible argument in this thread. You at first state that Joe Flacco is a better QB than Wentz. Than you basically twist that argument into a different argument that we would be happy if Wentz' career followed Flacco's career simply in terms of post season wins and Super Bowl wins. Well, no ****. Of course we'd be happy if Wentz won a Super Bowl. But that has nothing to do with comparing his ability to Flacco's ability. Hell, you might as well say we'd be happy if Wentz' career followed Trent Dilfer's career trajectory. Stop sorting by rings, it's the easiest way to point out an uneducated sports fan.
4. What are you not seeing in Wentz that you would consider all of these QBs better than him and you would probably take Goff over him and definitely Prescott? What is your deal? The kid has looked great. Every analyst that has actually played the game says the sky is the limit for him. They say the game tape actually shows even more progress from year 1 to year 2 than the stats do (even though the stats are excellent.) What exactly is your issue with Wentz where you are pumping the brakes so hard, to the point where you would probably take Goff over him? Or maybeeeeee you are one of those people that lost their minds when Howie traded up for him, and ever since you have been waiting for him to fail.
Edit: Last point, the fastest way to winning a SB is to have a QB with exceptional ability, but It can be done other ways, like when Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. Or even when Ben Roethlisberger won his first Super Bowl since he was {9 for 22, 123 yards passing, 0 TDs , 2 ints, 22 QB rating} But hey, he is the QB, so he's the reason the Steelers won that Super Bowl right? Isn't that how it works????
