Good chance both teams are 9-4 and playing for the division lead next matchup. Cowboys will be coming off a ten day 'mini bye' and will be mad. Next one will be tough. A win vs Seattle would be huge.

like our chances against seattle. if this D can shut down murray they can contain Lynch and seattle's pass offense isn't that great this year (19th in DVOA). Dallas pass offense is 6th for comparison

also think if they do beat seattle they run the table and finish 13-3

I think it's tough to gauge this d by stats with chip's offense. They are on the field for a ton of snaps and are playing with a big lead relatively often. This is going to inflate yards per game, especially passing, and sack totals.I think the total yards based stats most talking heads use when spouting rankings are pretty useless for this team.

yards/attempt or yards/play is a much better metric than total yards

passing yds/attempt: 23rd at 7.6
passing %/game: 1st at 57.5 (although they are worst at 20+ and 40+ plays)
passer rating against: 16th at 90.4
rushing yds/attempt: t7th at 3.9
total defense yds/play: t11th at 5.4
3rd down percentage: t8th at 37%
sacks: 2nd at 42
defensive TDs: t1st with 4
points per game differential: 4th at 7.5 ppg

Rushing yds/attempt looks solid, no surprise. Passing yds/attempt seems pretty bad, also no surprise, but at least some of that can be attributed to teams trying to catch up and Eagles playing soft.

For the same reason total passing yards is misleading, the same has to be true of total sacks. More passing snaps = more sacks. FO tries to account for it with adj sack rate, which is mostly (intentional grounding+sacks)/passing downs, and the Eagles are 9th there at 7.3% (Detroit leads the league with 9.9%). The Eagles aren't an elite pass rushing team right now, but solid enough to cause problems (especially with a lead).

As long as the offense keeps clicking, the Eagles should be able to do some damage with a top 10 run D and pass rush. It's what most of us thought to begin with - they don't yet have the defensive personnel to be elite, but are improving within the scheme and playing together with effort. Hopefully we can get to the playoffs and the defense keeps improving.
