One game won't define this team, especially on the road against Godgers. Will def be a big measuring stick game though, but if they get beaten up they'll immediately be able to redeem themselves against the Cowboys. I'll be happy with a win in either game.

I disagree. The Eagles have played arguably only 3 good teams the entire year : Indy, SF and Arizona. They lost 2/3 of them. Every other team they have played are pretty awful.

Jax : 1-9
Washington : 3-6
St Louis : 3-6
Giants : 3-6
Houston : 4-5
Carolina : 3-6

After going through that, I feel even worse about it. Yeah, the Eagles are 7-2, but they've played awful opponents. They have Green Bay, Dallas, Seattle, Dallas left. They are very lucky to have the Redskins, Giants, and Titans left. I really wouldn't be surprised if they wind up 10-6 or even 9-7.

Indy in Indy is a solid win, and the other two games were against very good teams on the road and they were still one play away from winning both games. It's not like they got destroyed. Yeah they haven't played beaten any other teams like Indy, but it's not like they squeaked by all of them.

Jax - Slow start obv, but crushed in the second half and won by 17
Washington - The closest game on that list
St. Louis - Crushed them until the defense decided to stop playing in the 4th
Giants - Destroyed
Houston - Good game, Philly took control late and was never in serious danger of losing
Carolina - Destroyed

Yeah, not amazing opponents, but when you only look at those games, ever since they were down 17-0 at half vs Jax, was there really ever really a time during those games where you were thought "Holy crap, they are in trouble"? They were down 10 to Washington at one point but it was somewhat early?

And lol @ "lucky to have Redskins, Giants, Titans left" the other 4 games they have left are 2 against Dallas, @GB and Sea. Yeah. Sick run good...

Take a look at the remaining schedule of any team and I'm sure they also have 3-4 easy games.

Well, yes. They were awful in the 1st half of the Jacksonville game, but lets say we give that somewhat of a pass because it's the 1st of of the 1st game of the year.

In the 49ers game they had no offense. They couldn't run the ball. They couldn't pass the ball. In fact, their special teams and defense were the only reason they were even in the game. They couldn't score offensively. Foles had zero TDs and 2 INTs. No rushing TD. McCoy had 17 yards. Sproles had 4.

When you get to the playoffs, you're going to run into opponents who can shut down your offense in one aspect or the other. The 49ers shut down both. You're simply not going to run into the Giants or the Panthers in the playoffs. You're going to run into the Packers or the 49ers or the Cardinals, teams that will give you serious problems offensively, and won't make dumb ass mistakes like turning over the ball twice in the first 4 plays of the game.

I'm not saying I'm not rooting for the Eagles, but I am saying that unless they show some improvement against good teams, they are in deep trouble. Remember last year. Denver didn't play against a top 5 defense the entire season. They went into the Superbowl against the best defense in the league and got *blown out*.

The Eagles won't get out of the 2nd round unless they improve.

forgetting how many OL injuries we had during the SF game?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm really enjoying what they're giving me in the present instead of worrying about what they might not give me in some horribly imagined future.

The fact that the Eagles' 3 toughest games were all on the road (and long road trips at that) and they were all legitimately close 1 score games indicates that they are, at minimum, in the same class as those teams - i.e. top 10 in the NFL.

I wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Foles.

So I think we all have @GB marked as a loss, right? I'm just hoping it's a close game if they do lose. We'll also get to see how much better the defense really is.

I have them going 12-4 now, up from my preseason prediction of 11-5. All 3 sides of the ball are playing great and the O-line is pretty much 100% healthy (I don't think Herremans is going to cost them at all). Imagine if the O-line was healthy the entire year, it's not crazy to think they would be 9-0 or 8-1 right now. I'm pretty high on them right now as I think most of us are, if they got hot in the playoffs who knows what can happen...

People were critical of the Eagles last year for not having a better record against playoff teams when the reason their record wasn't better was because they were singlehandedly responsible for several teams not making the playoffs (Chicago, Dallas, Arizona). Had those been losses their record against playoff teams would have been much worse, but as it stands they don't even get credit for winning.

If you're not happy with how this team has performed so far simply put you're being way too critical. They're beating the teams they're supposed so soundly and the two losses could easily have been wins. I mean, you can argue they were lucky to be in the game vs SF with how dreadful the offense was but against Arizona they were the better team and lost on a handful of stupid mistakes. And now that the offensive line is healthy and Sanchez is in there the offense looks much more promising than it did previously, not to mention the play of the defense and special teams has consistently been pretty good.

I'm not saying they're a top 5 team. I don't think they are yet. But top 10? Absolutely, and if they get hot I don't see any reason they can't make a deep run. Nobody in the NFC is that scary right now outside of GB.

And yet GB still lost in NO only two games ago. I don't think we win in GB but don't anticipate a blowout and wouldn't be surprised if we won.

I think it will come down to our pass rush. I don't fear GB's defense other than Clay.

Re: our "soft" schedule you can only play the teams they put in front of you and I don't think we're any more of a fraud than any of the other teams near the top of the NFC. Before the season I thought Seattle were untouchable but now I think the conference is pretty much wide open.

impressed by how sanchez moved in the pocket. still dunno what the hell happened to foles this year but it was nice to see a QB step up into the pocket instead of back peddling for 20 steps or drifting to his left for no reason at all

one thing that seems apparent from this game and the preseason is sanchez likes throwing the ball in the middle of the field more than foles does so i expect matthews and the tight ends to have big games the next couple of weeks

Yeah a loss here isn't that bad but looking incompetent while losing is.

Meh, nothing really shocking today so far. Fletcher and Williams are water trash, we still aren't getting are money's worth from Shady and it isn't just the o-line's fault, Tobin is meh, Huff is the rookiest rookie ever, Sanchez is only marginally better than Foles if anything and we don't have our QB of the future. Not new problems, they just all caved in on us at once today in a brutal matchup against a GOAT QB. This is still a good team with a great coach that is still 1-2 years away.

What he said. Even if they go 1-1 against Dallas I like their chances. Eagles schedule seems easier than Dallas'.

I'm surprised you guys want to just wave off a complete embarrassment, but ok.

Oline playing bad, sanchez is bad, shady bad vs a mediocre defense. Obviously not the end of the world but it matters more than not at all.

Definitely don't want to write it off, what I'm really saying is that I never expected this team to have a higher ceiling than one playoff win this year.

REALITY CHECK!

Haha. But yeah... I do think they'll still win the east, but man that was a pretty exposing loss, especially on d. It's not like many other NFC teams would have faired better than us @GB though.

I also think Sanchez will be fine, he didn't play great but it's not like he stunk up the place either. And his lol Sanchez moments didn't really come until the game was way outta hand.
