the safeties and linebackers just kill this team - just a slew of blown tackles and dropped coverages

get to hear more bull**** about vick's style of play getting him injured when its hits in the pocket that are injuring him

this team dominates all day long with mccoy but can't get one ****ing yard when it matters

coleman is way too cocky for someone who doesnt tackle and cant cover. prob my least fav player on the team

and i think the eagles bought in on matthews too quick off his brother's name. i mean sure he was good in college and maybe hes the best we have but the kid is just getting owned week after week

Even while Vick is in the pocket he does a below average job of protecting himself compared to other quarterbacks. Knowing how to take a sack is critical for a QB's longevity.

CAsey Mathews is bad, I mean real bad, but Jarrad Page is not much better...Neither is Coleman for that matter.

There really isnt much we can do personnel wise but Brian Rolle came on and actually made a play or 2, I dont see why he wouldnt start to get more PT starting next week.

One positive, Andy somehow had massive amounts of time outs at the end of both halfs?!?!?!

if only we had some early round picks from the last few years that could actually dress for the game and play we might not be in this mess.

The Eagles lead the NFL in sacks, and every single one has come from the front 4. The cornerbacks as a group are the best in the league. And yet our defense is abysmal.

I really thought that this defense was going to be fine, but when 5/11 guys on the defense probably shouldn't be in the NFL, let alone starting, I guess bad things happen.

At this point, I feel the nickel should be our base defense. The Eagles need to get their best players on the field. More man to man on WRs and bracket coverage on tight ends. Don't worry about teams running the ball, just worry about taking away throws to their tight ends and rbs. Make them throw at the corners.

Today's reports are saying Vick out 3-4 weeks.

Definitely would prefer to see what VY can do rather than Kafka. He should be healthy by now.

A bunch of us in the stands were saying the same thing after the Jacobs TD and they started do use it as their base for much of the 3rd quarter and it seemed to work. But for some reason got away from in later in the game.

Interesting, fox of course made no mention of the eagles running more nickel in the second half.

Well it was just something we noticed while at the game and watching player substitutions, but it could have to do with what personnel the Giants had on the field to...so it might not have been a scheme adjustment only a personnel adjustment based on what sets the Giants came out in.

Woot! Love home games against the gmenfail
Baaaaaahahahahhahahaha Like that could ever happen

- 11 mins left 4th Q. Let's go for it on 4th and 1 from the 46 instead of pinning them deep. By "them" I mean a Giants offense that basically did nothing in Q's 2 and 3 (and their first pos of the 4th was a 3 and out). Their 2 TDs (both in Q1) were a blown coverage by Matthews (shocking!!) and a 6 yard pass that (3 missed tackles later) turned into a 74 yard TD. Let's give a struggling team life by giving them the ball just short of mid-field.

- 1st and goal at the Giants 2. On two of the next 3 plays he called for an Owen Schmidt run.

Thanks Andy....thanks big guy

At this point, what else can be said about the LBs and S's? I love our front 4 and our CBs....and our defense is still beyond terrible as a whole.

Never mind, now they are saying his hand is just bruised not broken, and he might be able to play this week.

Still more concerned about our other issues more than QB really, though. Offer Asante to the Bears for Lance Briggs?

I had mixed feelings on the decision to go for it before the snap. What ultimately made me think punting was better was that we had just gotten stuffed 4 times on the goalline because our offensive line was getting manhandled. Plus we were only up by 2, so not converting almost assuredly gives the Giants the lead.

Pretty sure this play occured after Vick's hand injury which makes it even more LOL.

This one blew my mind. We don't give the ball to McCoy, who had completely demoralized the Giants defense all game long, or Brown, who presumably was brought in for just these kinds of situations. Instead we try two QB sneaks with a banged up Vick and two runs with the FB. I'll never, ever understand what they were thinking there. Ever.

I said this in the BEAST thread, but offensive coordinators are too smart to stack up on one or two positions like the Eagles have. Another thing that defies logic is spending two or three times as much on your backup QB as your entire starting LB core. Then there's the fact that we've drafted safeties highly over the last two years and neither have made an impact whatsoever, and as result we have easily the worst safety tandem in the league.

I mean, how is Jarret not even contributing on special teams? Isn't the book on him that he is a hard nosed physical safety? He can't go out on kickoffs and knock some people around? Ridiculous.

In fact, the only impact we've gotten in the last two years from a 4th round pick or higher is Casey Matthews. LOL

Casey Mathews era over. Rolle starting at WIL on sunday. Nate Allen is also getting the start over Coleman.

Good and good. Allen may not be 100%, but I think starting him and letting him knock the rust off as he recovers is the best bet - he's the safety of the future, presumably.

Also, I'd like to see a linebacking corps picked and stuck with at this point. These guys need to develop some cohesion together.

good. rolle may be small (5'9") but he has the strength to not be too much of a liability.

rolle tossing the rams center to get at the rb (stolen from bleedinggreennation.com)

i also like what I saw from him in pass coverage as well last week.

hopefully allen can get over that injury and be the guy from the first half of last year.

Rolle made that sweet pass break up down the field, the same play that Casey was completely MIA on against Jacobs. He also looked pretty good in preseason. Not sure any amount of linebacker juggling will make up for the lack of talent at the position, but this can only help.

I'm kinda iffy about Allen starting. He got trucked last week by Bradshaw and still seems hampered by his knee injury in preseason. I suppose it can't hurt though, Coleman hasn't exactly been good. Page has been just as bad, though. Ugh, the linebackers and safeties will be the death of this team.
