My Philly-fan friends are quite reactionary about this,

not that it's any consolation right now,

but David Akers has won y'all a TON more football games than he's lost in the last 11 years

ugh just got home from the game. it was strange leaving the linc - it was almost like the crowd was surprised the birds even had a chance at the end.

the first akers miss was right on target to my seat - he hooked the **** out of that kick. also, the second one.

disappointing finish to an exciting season that i didn't expect in august but it still stings.

gg pack

Dont fire Reid.

None of us had high expectations coming into this year but falling short still feels like ****.

You cant blame the entire game on Akers, but he had two large blunders that directly resulted in the difference in the game points wise. So yea thats a huge reason we lost the game. But there were many many other reasons to where the Akers misses shouldnt have been the deciding factor.

35 days till pitchers and catchers report.

You think Eagles go after Asomugha? He will be 30 next year.

I think they do. They won't overpay him, of course, but they will at least give him a call.

From that article:

Quote:
Asomugha is one of the league's best man-to-man cornerbacks, with most teams choosing not to throw to his side of the field. According to STATS LLC, Asomugha was targeted on just 33 pass attempts this season. He allowed 13 completions for 205 yards and no touchdowns, burnishing his reputation as a shutdown cornerback.
Can you imagine him and Samuel together? That would be a nasty corner duo.

Well, if that happens I hear Brad Childress is available.

This.

Andy is one of the best game planners in the league, its in game management that he struggles with. They have a coach for everything else why not have a time management/game management advisor? He could just sit in the box and review replays for challenges and aid in time management.

How are we feeling about Mcdermott's future? He seems decent but has been out coached many times and I just dont have the confidence in him that I would like. I understand that weve been hampered by injuries all season but there is more to it than that.

The talent level with this defense is not good right now. Add in all the injuries this season and it's no wonder the defense struggled. By the end of the year, we just had too many rookies and underskilled players out there. Several of Green Bay's big plays yesterday were just blown coverages where the playcall was good, nothing to fault McD for. The completion to Driver on 3rd and 10 springs to mind (which led to a TD iirc). That said, he doesn't seem special like JJ was, but I would give him more time to prove himself.

The offense/special teams just left too many points out on the field yesterday. Akers 2 missed FGs, Avant's drop on 3rd down that would have put them in a 1st down around the 20, Celek stepping out on the 2pt conversion. That's somewhere between like 9 and 15 points left out there.

The defense certainly didnt have a great game either, GB left 7 out there with that Jones drop. The red zone defense just has to improve, we can't give up 7 every time and expect to win anything. They played better in the second half and came up with several big stops, but red zone red zone red zone. I mean, it can't get worse next year, right?

Targets for the offseason:

1. RT & RG, maybe C
2. CB
3. LB to replace Sims and have better depth
4. DE - because you can never have too many

Oh, and a giant FU to Winston Justice for playing the 2nd worst game of his career yesterday. I know Clay Matthews is a tough assignment, but he was AWFUL. That blown block on 3rd and 1 with allowed Matthews to tackle McCoy short of the 1st (which led to the Akers miss) was AWFUL. And that other sequence where he gave up 3 penalties IN TWO PLAYS. EAT A DICK.

I know . I think he must have had a kid last year or something since he stopped doing video rewinds and crazy game charting graphs like he used to.

I guess Jauron. Interesting timing though. Cleveland called to interview him for their vacant DC and then McD gets canned. If not Jauron I don't really know who. There isn't really anyone in house they can promote anymore since all the defensive guys they had in the past are head coaches now.
