defense is legit. Schwartz is great and has the right personel to run his scheme. His good defenses have all had 1 great interior lineman that demands a double team (Haynesworth,Suh,Dareus,Cox) and then he uses the wide 9 to unleash pressure off the edges while playing 7 in coverage. He almost never blitzes.

Pederson is looking like Reid without timeout and clock mismanagement. Does anyone still think it was Pederson that was at fault for the Chiefs clock issues in the playoffs last year now? He's mostly just doing the same stuff him and Reid were doing in KC except Wentz has much more tools to work with than Alex Smith. He's also doing basic game planning stuff thats promising. Steelers are very good at run defense up the middle so he spent the 1st half just attacking the edges until they tired in the 2nd half.

Wentz I still have no idea how he's this good despite not really playing that much football in college or preseason. Theres a chance he's actually a freak Luck/Elway/Manning prodigy that no one realized since he went to a small school then got hurt. All the stuff he's doing pre snap already + his physical tools is super promising. Even stupid small stuff that probably doesn't matter but is fun to read like coming in at 5:30am everyday to watch film and his girlfriend saying he tries to study film on date night is good to hear. If he continues playing really well all season and they win 10+ games I'd lean that way. Lane Johnson's suspension is gonna hurt. I think if Wentz's production falls off it will be b/c of that and not defenses figuring anything out. Reid/Pederson made it work in KC with Smith's noodle arm and no real receivers except 1 year of Maclin. They even went on a 10 game winning streak after Charles tore is ACL last year.

I think the worst part of this season was me on a whim saying I'd grow a mustache, as long as the Eagles kept winning. I didn't for a second believe it would last 5 weeks, at the least. I cringe going in public already.

I don't think there's enough data yet to make any determination about his clock management skills. Seems likely that Reid was the culprit in KC since that was his biggest problem here, but it's still early. They're not squandering timeouts early in games though which is pretty impressive given Wentz's lack of experience and preparation.

One person who should be getting more credit for the turnaround is Howie. Yes, he got very fortunate that a trade opportunity opened up for Bradford to get moved, but this is clearly a very solid team overall that is extremely well coached. Even if Braford were here, that would still be true. He took a huge risk on Wentz who was certainly not seen as a consensus franchise QB prosect and in doing so, may have set the table for this organization to be a contender for the next 15 years. It is really just a matter of how good he becomes, at this point, because it's hard to see somebody with the mental and physical tools he has not developing into at least an above average starter at the worst barring injuries.

I know we're supposed to be very weary of optimism after the disappointments we've endured over the years but **** it, I don't care. This feels different. The city is fully behind this team in every way and I don't think it's just the honeymoon effect or the result of exceeding expectations early on. Things will taper off some, don't get me wrong, but I don't anticipate the kind of negativity or toxicity around this team that we've had in previous years over a couple of tough losses.

He could possibly get injured? That's all I got. Dude looks like a HOFer to me.

Except that if they win The SB our second draft pick from them turns into a 2nd instead of a 4th and the more likely scenario if they even get to the NFC championship game it still turns into a 3rd.

philly is doing the same thing the vikings and broncos are doing....riding the hell out of a top 10 defense while getting solid (i.e. don't turn the ball over) play out of their young QB. yes, two of those games were against the browns and bears, but the stealers have/had super bowl equity this season.
it will be really interesting to see what happens in week 7 when bradford and the vikings come to town. good chance philly is 5-0 at that point if they can win the two road games against underperforming teams (but i'm predicting a 1-1 split of those two).

refs kinda ****ed them late. the fumble, multiple people are touching out of bounds and the football. the INT, Slay pulls Ag down with his right hand on Ag's right shoulder before catching the ball.

Fumble call was obviously awful, but the Eagles could have easily never been in that position to begin with.

Definitely felt like a textbook let down game after the Pit win.

Disappointing. So sloppy coming off the bye was probably the biggest surprise. Mistakes on offense, defense and special teams, tons of penalties.

Wentz played well though, so that was encouraging.

yeah the skins basically got whatever they wanted on the ground.. its a shame we got back into the game off 2 big plays by S/T and D but then the O just couldnt really ever get going. penalties didnt help

All this. Wentz didn't look good today. I know he had zero time a lot, but the few times he did he was still airmailing throws.

Edit: Also Peterson's punt at the end of the game was terrible. I know 4th and 24 is a long shot anyway, but Washington was shredding Philly through the ground all day so it was unlikely they get the ball back, and even if they did, i would be 80-ish yards away with 40-ish seconds and no timeouts.

I am here to tell you that the guard-center-guard combo of the DALLAS COWBOYS is going to drive a mack truck straight up the middle on Cox and all y'alls wide-nines bull**** for SIXTY MINUTES OF UNITED STATES FOOTBALL in two weeks.
